That's how dryer fires start, you know. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Hey, I noticed an issue, identified it, and rectified it, just about immediately. That's about all I can do. All the rest is luck of life. I'm pretty good with cleaning it anyway, at least as far as I know. The trap gets maximum two loads before cleaning, almost always it's just one. I even clean behind it and the door at least once a week. And I always have kept up the yard. This was all totally new for me. Now I know. Worst case I'll hand weed, but it's nothing to keep 'em back. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

Is there any easy way to identify where the dryer exhaust leaves the house? I can't seem to find mine. My dryer is on an interior wall so I really can't even guess where it goes outside (I am assuming it is not just going into the wall). At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

Look behind it and try to determine where it exits then walk the house and look for the vent. Not sure but there may be a small chance it is sharing a vent with the chimney? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

I had 2 houses where the vent was way up in the air, even though you kind of expect it to be near the floor of the level the dryer's on. The piping ran between the floors, and vented 10 feet up the wall, even though the dryer was on the first floor. You could try putting a couple tablespoons of baking soda or ground chalk in where the hose meets the wall, then turning on the dryer. It should put a good cloud somewhere outside. Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has |

The principle being if you live in a cold climate the warm water draining (like during a shower) can be run past the cold water pipe to give it heat on the way in. http://www.gizmag.com/ecodrain-drain-heat-exchanger/32858/ "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

The HQ ones sold at the pharmacy can run .50 each. Doesn't sound like a lot of money but when you need the things there are more frustrations then just the exhorbitant cost, like size and shape? I have had several broken noses. Dr's just look,,,and laugh. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Or, if you fancy yourself a true craftsman, then you at least know someone for whom this would apply (obv, cuz you know me =p) Yup. Nailed it ;) In actual DIY news, where the hell do you buy glass? I figured the Googles would be an easy shop. Nope. Mostly I get hits for auto. If I happen to find auto+, they don't have big enough. Strip malls are everywhere. Where the hell do they get those huge storefront plates? Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

How big and for what? You might have to go to Buffalo but should be a glass company up there. Maybe call your homeowners agent and ask as they should know from broken windows. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

| Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 148 Posts: 25978 | I always want to jerryrig everything because I have no patience for mechanics or carpentry. I had enough of it 20 years ago when I was refinishing furniture. I know a guy who just spent a pile of cash on a huge compressor and sand blaster. He thinks he's going to do big projects. He'll find out it's not as easy as it sounds. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
