If we even find so much as a fossil, much more so some type of living organism, I think it will be the most amazing and wondrous scientific discovery ever.

Would a universe with no laws be more likely to create a universe with laws or would one with laws be more likely to create a universe without laws?

One without laws seems more flexible to defy itself.

Wasn't this issue settled at Easter Island?

Okay, here's a "what if" for you.

You are given a choice to go back in time and prevent a tragic event. (that's all you can do, this is not choosing to pick a lottery number or get rich)

Would you do it?

Consider, there's no actual way to know the random consequences of your action on other subsequent events. So things may be better or worse than you expect once you prevent the tragic event.

For instance, you save your beloved Grandfather from eating poison mushrooms. A week later, he was the one driving when most of the rest of your family went off a road and perished over a cliff. That's an example of what might happen, but you don't know right now.

Whenever we try to play God bad things happen.

Is it possible for something to go completely through the Earth, but not at the subatomic level?

It depends what you consider successfully "going through".

You mean like a common thing? A mote of dust, a pebble, a bullet, a rock, a meteor?

Yeah, something like that. I'm imagining either nothing would really make it intact, and that there would be massive cavitation at the exit point.
