I like your sense of humor. Hope you'll stick around DT for a long time.

You act like that poppycock story really happened. Do you have a clue as to what it would take in those days to gather 5000 people together in a place like that? The media can't even be accurate in how many attend a Trump rally today, let alone 2000 years ago. And I'm sorry, Jesus did not defy the laws of the universe, like they did on the TV show Bewitched, and wiggle his nose and out of thin air produce food to feed 5000 people. This does not and did not happen. Historians use what they call the 'myth test' for stories like this. If it doesn't and can't happen today, it didn't happen then and is a myth. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

One of my favorite trivia questions is how many fish were caught in the story of the second miraculous catch of fish?
Imagine, counting and recording many years later exactly 153 fish. 153 is an interesting number too, in that 153=1^3 + 5^3 +3^3. I've asked the most devout of Christians this question and have stumped them all. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Don't ask them to be logical about anything in the NT, that's very unfair. It's like asking how the beans Jack got in Jack and the Beanstalk got to be magical. They just were, dammit, accept it.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

His mother sent him on an errand to go to the village, sell their donkey, and use the money to buy food. However, somebody sold him "magic beans" instead, because Jack was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Nevertheless, they really were magic beans and he proved his mother wrong. But that doesn't explain how the beans got to be magical. You're just supposed accept the most important part of the story on faith. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Yep. Fairy tales are full of details you just have to accept. Besides, fairy tales aren't mean to be believed, they are just a story and often meant to convey some kind of social ethic. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Especially the fairy tale of Christianity. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25010 | This is going to be huge when it's released. The massive cover up by the Church is stunning. Report on Pennsylvania Priest Abuse to be Most Extensive Yet PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The results of a lengthy probe into the handling of sexual abuse claims by Roman Catholic dioceses throughout Pennsylvania, which victim advocates say will be the biggest and most exhaustive ever by a U.S. state, could be made public within weeks. https://www.yahoo.com/news/report-pennsylvania-priest-abuse-most-extensive-yet-145523867.html If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25010 | The Church is finally putting the screws to Francis for being the one in charge of the massive cover up. The bishop of Tulsa stated Sunday that allegations by the former papal nuncio to the United States that Pope Francis knew of Cardinal McCarrick’s sexual predation and yet reinstated him to a position of influence are a “good place” to start investigations into clerical sex abuse and cover-up. Yesterday it was a Cardinal who called for his resignation. Get rid of the jerk and appoint somebody who get rid of the problem. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
