So suicide is OK if it's for the right reason? Like sparing yourself any more pain and agony. The guy who jumps on the grenade does it for the same reason a sick person kills himself. It's a selfish act. There are people who live thru the grenade thing. They all say they did it because they couldn't live with themselves if they didn't do it. It's a selfish act, just like everything we do in life. Even the myth of Jesus dying for our so called sins was a selfish act. He did it because he wanted to do it, not because he was forced to. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

In which parallel universe did I say kill our loved ones? I said people deserve the respect to choose self termination, when suffering undue misery. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

And I say people deserve to be relieved of their suffering but this does not mean killing them. I appreciate you like to use the euphemism "terminate", it is the same attempt those who want to kill a developing baby in the womb, but it is killing. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

What are you saying here? Do you think a healthy man out of love for his unit falling on a grenade to save them is the same as a sick person killing themselves? “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

They're both selfish acts, done for different reasons. I remember a story about a cop who who dove for a guy jumping off a bridge. He would have surely died if his partner hadn't grabbed his leg at the last second. Later the cop said he couldn't have lived with himself if hadn't tried to save the guy. A selfish act again. It looks selfless, but really isn't. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

You can use whatever words you like to make you feel better but it is still killing a human person. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

| petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | Don't you wonder how many people have killed themselves because of the guilt put on them by the Catholic church? All that nature has given mankind through eons of evolution, the instincts, desires, thoughts, wants and needs have all been used by church to tax the listeners. Every impulse a possibility for another tax. You even want to take a persons life away from them, [the one thing they do own] and use it as a means of control. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

Have a better idea of the number of millions and millions who have had their lives saved because they experienced the freedom of forgiveness and joy of being loved unconditionally by God.
I have no idea what you mean by "another tax". If there is a tax or some kind of payment required to go to Church or receive the Sacraments I don't know of it.
It is you who want to take a person's life away from them! I want to give them back the dignity of their life and respect its value even in the midst of difficulty circumstances. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

By telling them that suicide is a mortal sin that will be punished by eternity in hell. In the Church, suicide is a mortal sin that costs you your salvation, what ever that is. In other words, a Catholic killing themselves is so bad, not even Jesus will forgive it. This is the Vatican's view on suicide. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
