Nah, he jumped the shark when he suggested that Ted Cruz's dad was mixed up in the murder of JFK.

People still say "jumped the shark?"

At some point, the population required to form a state (such as under the Northwest Ordinance) was 60,000 people.
Several of the midwest states came in to the union under those standards.

As of 2017, Greenland was just a few thousand short of that, with a population of around 56,000.

The population of Guam is about 164,000. Puero Rico over 3 million.

That was fine for unsettled territory in the 1830s. Today that is not feasible. Also a language and cultural differences.

You still do not say what is so bad about being a territory.

Still? I believe that was my first comment on the subject.

I just listed a few facts, and noted some historical context.

Here is another fact - Wyoming is the least populous state at about 570,000.

What did I miss? I do not see anything about why you think it would be bad.

Yes, as I said earlier, if a state, Greenland would be smallest state by 90%. Alone a reason not to grant statehood.

Beautiful in the summer, WY and
MT are unpopulated because
winter starts in Sept and lasts
till May. My wife has a nephew
that made big bucks in MT as
an insurance adjuster because
they couldn't find anybody to
do the job. He lasted 5 years till
he escaped.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

If that’s your logic, then Wyoming and possibly some other small states don’t deserve to be a state compared to California with its some 39 million.

That is not logic, that is silly. CA was small when it became a state and you would compare state size to the average at admission, not to the largest now. Do you understand the concept here?

I have heard MT is beautiful but described as "poverty with a view." Fracking should help it out. I'd do a tour there.
