Why not free dope for the severely addicted?

They do. It's called Methadone.

Very few addicts want to be cured.

I hope they shut down the super bowl
Might as well and go all in on illegal protesting.
I've see a gazillion protests in DC
You have your say legally and you go home
You don't try to illegally shut down streets with trucks
It's amazing
The righties have no idea how to protest peacefully
First It's attacking the capitol
Then it's shutting down the border
They got their eyes on the super bowl
I don't think the righties have the intelligence to protest without committing illegal acts

You'll hate Oregon then, because here it's not a crime to possess and use heroin, meth etc. for personal use.

Exactly the opposite. If it’s not a crime then it’s not criminal behavior. As far as Rx’s point, I won’t disagree that costs (may?) be higher by treating the added infections from not giving away free clean drug paraphernalia. I don’t care. I don’t want to give armed robbers bulletproof vests. That would decrease injuries to those criminals. I may have made a mistake bringing money into the equation. The CONCEPT of the government enabling a crime is what irks me the most.

So in your view it is okay to shutdown a street by standing, sitting or lying down on it but somehow a truck makes it illegal.

Thousands of protesters took to the streets of downtown Washington with a single goal: Bring traffic to a total, grinding halt in the nation’s capital.

Demonstrators — hailing from a wide variety of social justice causes — armed themselves with anything they could find: trash, tree limbs, bottles, bricks, tires. They used the materials to form barricades across heavily trafficked sites in the District, stared into the faces of waiting police officers and prepared for a day of conflict.

This was May 1971, the original D.C. traffic blockade launched to protest the Vietnam War — what longtime organizer and historian L.A. Kauffman calls “the most influential protest you’ve never heard of.”

The above quotes are from the Washington Post.

This only the first of many traffic stopping multiday protests that you have never heard of TP. Of course if it is a protest for a reason you agree with then it doesn't count as illegal.

Both are illegal and both were protests over issues protesters did not know enough about and should not be protesting.

In any case it's the right wing who is trying (and in some States succeeding) to pass laws making it legal to use force against people blocking the road for a protest.

As it should be. BLM supporters think it is a big joke to do so. I sometimes watch protesters getting run over on YT for fun. I love how they get all surprised they almost get run over. One woman was lying in front of a truck the guy almost ran her over. She yelled "ARE YOU CRAZY?" She is lying under a truck and asks the guy if HE is crazy.

I fully agree BLM protests, Vietnam protests, and Canadian trucker protests are all idiotic when they engage in illegal behavior (and they all happen to be wrong on each issue).

I remember those protests :-)
I was 12 years old and living in nearby Columbia MD
Older neighborhood teens wanted to go but parents said no way. The parents believed Nixon goon squads will bash your head in. Everybody saw the police riot on live TV in Chicago just a few years back.
Anyway
Any protest disrupting traffic is wrong and illegal
It's as simple as that
Doesn't matter the issue or cause
People that live in the area are simply trying to make a living
To disrupt that is wrong
