I was wondering how many of you have had "impressions" about other members here, I mean what you thought they looked like, how their writing style makes them appear online and then just generally, first impressions......

I'll start. Face, you are NOTHING like I imagined you (in a complete a-sexual way of course :O) )

I pictured you as an older guy, very large (not fat), extremely physical type (because of the hockey and other posts with regards to physicality).

When seeing your pictures on the British Virgin Islands thread you seem quite young and not at all what I had expected.

Have others had the same thought processes? Does it never enter your mind?

I have ideas on what Bob looks like but i'll keep those to myself for now :)

Hope this thread isn't creepy, it isn't meant that way!

I don't like seeing what people look like, it's never
what you expect. Like Face. I thought he'd look
more like Dwayne Johnson than he does. There
is kind of a resemblance.

This is why I rarely post pictures of myself.

Mission was about what I thought when I met him at WOV-East II.

For ages I thought Face was older, much as many people think I am older.

Otherwise nobody surprised me much.

"You see a hockey player, you'd never know he's a professional athlete. But you put the skates on him, and he becomes a beast." - Junior Seau

Hockey players aren't big. Even the baddest pro just looks like a normal dude on the street. I run into Rob Ray all the time, LaFontaine every now and again. Kessel, Van Reimsdyk, and Phaneuf were all in the casino this year. They look like any other dude their age you'd see in a bar. Bob Probert might have been the baddest bad ass that ever lived, but in person, he looked like some bumpkin you'd see at a local dive.

I get "older" all the time. I am my grandpa probably more than either of my parents. Being raised by a man born in '33 gave me the values and personality of an old man. And while my main fishing buddy is my age, my next youngest friend is 44. Most are in their 50's.

Same as AZD, I haven't really been surprised yet. Mission, Wiz, Teliot... everyone looks about as I pictured them. I got Mosca wrong, but not to the point I was surprised. Doc I nailed, all Doc's look the same ;) I think Babs pic of her swimming days was the biggest surprise, but her recent pic is about what I thought. OG I doubt would surprise me; seeing him from the neck down matches what I had in my head.

I could very well have seen the elusive EvenBob as well. Between him coming to my joint and me frequently being in the town his daughter lives, I might have ran right into him before. But I couldn't tell you what he looks like, and he wouldn't admit it if I could =p

And speaking of EB... The Rock? Seriously? XD

Yeah... twins XD

I dealt a poker tourney for a pro hockey team. I was amazed how small they looked. I'm not just talking because they were not on skates. I'm no big guy, but if I was on the team I would be above-average size wise. One or two goons who looked big, as for the rest I could have mistaken them for college players.

Hockey guys are super physical but they also use speed to hit guys. I know very little about hockey but I would not doubt their "hardness" for a minute.

I would take one on off his skates but on them.....I'll rather stay at home :)

I have been surprised on meeting several people on here. I don't think anyone was all that much like I had them, even the Wiz, who I'd seen on youtube. You, Face, are as old as I thought, and about as hunky, but I had a different idea on one particular thing, and I was dead wrong. Paradigm probably shocked me the most; he looks like an aging NFL quarterback. I do like how tall a lot of you seem to be; I'm nearly 6 foot myself, so enjoy meeting tall/ taller guys. Controllers run short, in my experience. Tomspur, don't think I've seen a picture of you, but in my mind I have you dark-haired, 30's, about 6'1", caucasian, kind of lanky, no facial hair.

Re: my swimming days picture. You know, I pulled that sucker down the next morning after getting teased into posting it late one night. I figured nobody much had seen it. Guess again, huh? I might have to dig out a couple more, just to remember the days I was smokin' hot, but the downside to that is looking in the mirror afterwards. Getting old is only better than the alternative by a smidgen some days.

Not to derail, but I've been sorting through piles of old pictures, letters, other paperwork. I didn't really allow that many pictures of me from any time in my life, with the exception (and probably the cause) being my shutterbug Grampa and Grandma for my childhood. I have tons of photos of places I went, with nobody in them to spoil the picture. And do I know where or whent they were taken? Nope. Turns out snapshots with yourself and people you love or do fun things with are much better souvenirs than landscapes and buildings, 20 or more years later. Live and learn.
Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has

Not too far off. 6'1", dark hair, I have facial hair now, I'm white yes. Not lanky, I would say portly :). Uset to be lanky in my youth, now I'm close to 220lbs.

Excellent perception Babs!

I'm 6', 214 in all those BVI pics. Portly, you say? Pfft.
