You hitched your wagon to a sinking
ship. So find some other god business
to get into. One that has some honor
left.

You better believe this is having a
very negative impact on the Church.
They'll lose good priests over this,
ones that say enough is enough.
They're tired of being connected
to such a corrupt organization and
will go elsewhere to serve their
religion. There is already a critical
priest shortage, and this news isn't
helping.

The ironic thing is, according to the
religion, all the pedophile priests
are forgiven and are going to heaven.
So all the good people can rub elbows
for eternity with thousands of evil
priests, whether they like it or not.

Is it any wonder that atheists laugh at
these religions?

I'm sure this is a tough time for you and the church. If you would like a listening ear, feel free to PM or Email me.

That's 300 just in PA, what about the
other states and the world. There
have to be thousands of these priests
that the Vatican moved around and
shielded from prosecution. How many
good men would have found a different
vocation had they known just how
corrupt the Church is.

My ex priest friend was a priest during
Vatican II, in the 60's. He said they were
vaguely aware of a problem, but nobody
ever talked about it, ever. It was an ugly
secret and loose lips sink ships.

Because there in no god, faking a belief
in the Catholic god just to get in and
molest kids would be easy peasy. Just
play their game, get in, and it's easy
pickings for a pedophile predator. Nobody
buys the story that these were good men
who went bad. They were evil to begin
with and used the priesthood as their
vehicle.

I think the term the PA AG used was 'the weaponization of faith". Based on what Evenbob points out and the report it seems a fitting phrase.

Religion has always been weaponized. I don't have a link, but I've read 85% of wars are started in the name of religion.

If you were in the upper class in
Europe in the Middle Ages, you
usually had at least one son
in the Church. It's where all the
political power and influence was.
A son advancing up the ranks could
help his family immensely with all
kinds of favors and business
opportunities. Nobody moved
without the approval of Rome.
They still talk that way, but the pope
has about as much power now as
the queen of England. None at all.

This is a common myth. Taking a look at just this last century, the bloodiest century in history, the greatest atrocities were committed by atheists and the state persecuted and replaced religion.

I'm not following you?

Go back further. For thousands of years it conflict was between leaders of different religions, and the peasants just carried the implements to battle.

Between American indians, say Navajo against Apache, it was one set of religious story's, fighting the group with a different story of "first man first woman".

When the Catholics showed up in Meso/ South America and moved north, it was that religion against what they called not religion. Same thing.

Today and before today, in the mid/ far east, the battle forever have been between, well...you know who they were between.

Ireland, between two of the xtian groups. How could they both think they had God on their side?
