I dont have a cast iron pan.

I don't, either. I'm thinking it's because we're no longer living in the XIX Century :)

I'll try a glass baking dish. I've plenty of those.

For all of youz who will soon be feasting, I present you with the then authoritative pronouncements of the Moral Progressives of the 1920s and 1930s:

The consumption of Mixed Foods (a/k/a Foreign Foods) such as puddings, casseroles, stews, etc. is a culinary transgression against the White Race. Such mixed foods a/k/a foreign foods were associated with immigrants (poverty, disease and crime).
Later it became that foreigners were associated with alcohol: Italians with wine, Lithuanians, Ukrainians with hard liquor and Germans with beer. The fact that the Moral Progressives statements about prior American culinary habits were false was not relevant. Later the Progressives went on to form the backbone of the movements against syndicalism, socialism and, of course, alcohol. That is how prohibition got voted into law despite alcohol taxes being seventeen percent of the federal budget.

And since many will have mince pie tomorrow please remember the Connecticut Blue Laws that made it illegal for a woman to bake a mince pie.

As Henry Ford said :History is bunk.

I need something that is protein in the morning, not sugar. I tried those dollar burittos from the frozen food aisle but they taste terrible and are filled with junk. And the burrito always is rock hard rather than fairly soft after being nuked in the microwave.

Fermented wild food pancakes - Curly dock, dandelion, watercress, cattail fermented with cabbage, garlic, onions and chili flakes.
Roasted wild seeds and fermented dandelion/watercress hot sauce

This stuff looks easy to make and the rest is free for the finding.

Three or four Cast Iron cookbooks are prominently featured at Barnes and Noble these days.

Okay folks. I already been to a museum and I already ate some yogurt so I got cultured.
But what is this stuff I saw on a label "cultured sugar"?

This is the first I've heard of it.

Here's the Wikipedia page about it.

Tnx. Dextrose is a sugar, just about anything ending in " ose " is a sugar. Label said Cultured Sugar not Cultured Dextrose but its probably the same thing.
I get suspicious of labels.

Decided to make a rum cake. I'm not a baker, but this was pretty easy; I googled rum cake recipe and added together what I thought was the best from several. We added coconut to this one, but banana or pineapple would also have been pretty good.

Too bad you ruined it with coconut Mosca ;-) Pineapple would be my choice but it looks delicious.
