I thought Gravity was great.

I give gravity a 9.80665 :)

If I ever see the movie, I probably won't bother to rate it.

The first 5 min was OK. After that I was bored.

Thanks for changing your comment Bob, I appreciate it.

It is not Alfonso Cuarón's best movie. I enjoyed these three much more.
2001 Y Tu Mamá También
2006 Children of Men
2006 Pan's Labyrinth

The "long take" was really perfected in Children of Men
Kee gives birth - 199 seconds;
an ambush on a country road - 247 seconds
a scene in which Theo is captured by the Fishes, escapes, and runs down a street and through a building in the middle of a raging battle - 378 seconds

In the ambush scene , blood splattered onto the lens, and they decided to break the wall and leave the blood in the movie. It is heart wrenching.

Gravity contains 156 shots for the entire 90 minute movie. These long shots can make the film seem boring as usually the average shot length is considerably shorter. CGI effects help stitch together long take.

Alfred Hitchcock's 1948 film, Rope, only had 11 shots. He focused on something bland at the end of each shot so the viewer was not conscious of a change in shots.

... The fact that
they would send an emotional unprepared wreck
of a woman into space is the real joke.

Is there another kind of woman?
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

Not in space. Imagine Bullocks character is
a man. Then watch it again. You'll be appalled.
Imagine if this is how women acted in combat.
Israeli women soldiers, for instance.

I've seen none.

And the value I gave to the rating of "gravity" just sailed past everyone, I guess.

You should have rated it in ft/sec^2 instead of m/sec^2. Then everyone would have gotten the joke.

A rating of 32 and some fraction makes no sense compared to a rating of 9.80665.
