Funny how my title of the thread is becoming more accurate than not. Were there signs of an insurrection before Trump surged 2000 ICE troops? Is there one now?

What else do you call citizens attempting en masse to prevent federal law enforcement officers (ICE) from doing their jobs? Heck, there are ‘clubs’ with that very intention! And certain mayors/governors abetting them. Sounds like an insurrection to me. As always, if you don like what your elected officials are doing, VOTE them out. Vote IN officials who will just allow illegal aliens to stay. If that’s what you want. Thankfully last election cycle, that’s not what the majority wanted.

I call it flimsy because of scale of response in relation to the so-called "insurrection", because anything resembling insurrection real activity started when Trump surged 2000 troops unnecessarily into Minneapolis which was not a hotbed of insurrection.

When Trump gives credible reasons for doing things, I will support it.

It feels like he is trying to use big words to scare people, but it doesn’t make sense to me. Just like this site shows real style and real ideas in fashion, we need real reasons and real facts in our politics too. Let’s focus on truth, not fear.

I must have missed when Trump declared martial law. My AI friend tells me last US President to do so was Abraham Lincoln. Maybe you are thinking about actions under the Insurrection Act? Or Trump’s attempts at enforcing existing laws using ICE?

According to Michael Flynn, Trump's former National Security advisor there was a discussion of Martial Law in the White House shortly before Biden took office. Trump called it fake news.

Trump never lies of course.

Not according to Gandler. When someone says something he believes him!

So there was a ‘discussion’ about it before Biden took office? And that is what has you worried now? I’ll worry about it after the 99 millionth person is deported….

It is interesting that ‘martial law’ is a much more vague term than it should be. Allowing one to ‘do’ it without calling it ‘martial law’ can only be a bad thing. I’m not ‘worried’ about it, but if the ICE protests escalate into an inner city free for all like BLM, then I can see Trump using those powers to squash it.

You are really going hard with this point, I have made myself quite clear on this. You believe somebody when they say their motivation, you don't believe somebody when there is a factual dispute.

If I say I punched my boss because he stressed me out. The right thing is to believe the reasoning, not to do a full cultural and psychological analysis from the third person to dispute my motivation.
But, if I said, "my boss stresses me out because he is stealing funds, this is why we fight," the factual issue you would not take my word on.

So, when ICE says their motivation is to deport 1/3 of the U.S. population, I take their word for it.
