Unteachable. These Secretary positions do not have a specific skill set that makes one ‘qualified’. I gave you a bunch of examples of Democrats who ascended to their jobs that really had no specific ‘qualifications’ for. You conveniently ignored them. Buttigieg is the most obvious example. He was a small town mayor and was put in charge of the country’s Transportation! His experience with Fort Wayne’s massive 14 route bus system certainly prepared him for the job!

I’m not sure why you are making fun of the guy being a plumber? If he was an electrician would you feel the same way? Pharmacist? Anesthesiologist? Do you only want guys who have been ICE trained in charge?

It’s really a management job. You need managerial skills. Like you gain by running a business.

I misread his tenure as a Senator. He was a Representative for 12 years before becoming a Senator. Kind of like a lot of these appointed positions.

So deluded
He was picked because he's a Trump supporter
He wanted to have a fistfight with a witness

Education
Buttigieg was valedictorian of the class of 2000 at St. Joseph High School in South Bend.[22][23] That year, he won first prize in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum's Profiles in Courage essay contest. He traveled to Boston where he accepted the award and met Caroline Kennedy and other members of the Kennedy family. The subject of his essay was the integrity and political courage of then U.S. representative Bernie Sanders of Vermont, one of only two independent politicians in Congress.[24][25][d]

In 2000, Buttigieg was one of two students chosen to be a delegate from Indiana to the United States Senate Youth Program,[27] an annual scholarship competition sponsored jointly by the U.S. Senate and the Hearst Foundations.[28] In his last high-school year, Buttigieg was named the school valedictorian, voted senior class president and chosen Most Likely to be U.S. President.[29]

After graduating from high school, Buttigieg attended Harvard College, where he majored in history and literature.[30] He became president of the Student Advisory Committee of the Harvard Institute of Politics and worked on the institute's annual study of youth attitudes on politics.[31][32] His undergraduate thesis, The Quiet American's Errand into the Wilderness, examined the influence of Puritanism on U.S. foreign policy as reflected in Graham Greene's novel The Quiet American.[33][34] He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 2004, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.[35][36]

Buttigieg was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford.[35][37] In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with first-class honours in philosophy, politics, and economics after studying at Pembroke College, Oxford.[38][39][40][41] At Oxford, he was an editor of the Oxford International Review,[42] and was a co-founder[42] and member of the Democratic Renaissance Project, an informal debate and discussion group of approximately a dozen Oxford students.[43][44]

I thought this was an April Fools joke
It's not
Any comment Soopoo
Hey, he's white so Soopoo must be OK with this

If it’s not an April fools joke SOOPOO will mock any government official who claims he was magically transported somewhere. President SOOPOO would fire him immediately.

As far as me using a disparaging term with regards to the Democrats, I like the term I now use. It seems an accurate depiction of most Democrat political decisions. Me calling them Dim in NO WAY implies I think the present batch of Repubs are ‘bright’.

I’m surprised there isn’t more chatter here about Noem’s husband! It is too bad she has already been ousted. How the Democrats would have handled it would’ve been very interesting. I think that they would’ve had to focus solely on the hypocrisy rather than the actual event.

I could care less about Noems husband
Interesting that you bring that up but ignore that we have a plumber running DHS
Calling Dems Dims and ignoring a plumber running DHS is the height of DDS
No way Dems hire a plumber to run DHS

Geez you are dense. The ‘plumber’ was an eminently successful businessman who has been a senator the last 14 years or so. If you make fun of MWM, how much fun you must have made of BHO, who did close to nothing before ascending to the Presidency. Or Harris who never ran a business with no executive experience. Or Buttigieg made into a ‘transportation secretary’.

I think a successful businessman who ALSO has served as a Senator for over a decade is FINE to be in charge of DHS. Will he be a good leader? No way for you or me to know. But him being able to fix a leak is NOT a negative.

i do my own plumbing for the most part. Same with electrical. Him being able to fix a leak is not a negative, but it also as no bearing whatsoever on his ability to head DHS.

BHO graduated from Columbia and Harvard Law. He was a community organizer, a state senator and an elected US Senator before he was elected to the Presidency. He beat a war veteran and an experienced US Senator for President. He later beat a two-term red governor from a blue state for a second term. He was effective President who brought us out of yet another recession caused by a red President. Compare those accomplishments to MWM. I dare you.

Harris graduated from Howard University, UC/Hastings Law. She was elected county DA, US Senator and then Vice President of the US. She was elected as VP to be part of an administration to get us out of a recession caused by a red President and a deadly pandemic mismanaged by the same red president, Compare those accomplishments to MWM.

Buttigieg was appointed DOT secretary, after being HS valedictorian, Harvard graduate, Rhodes scholar, a military officer who served in a combat zone, and multi-time elected mayor of South Bend, IL. Got a problem with those credentials?

Maybe we aren't mentioning Noem's' husband's fetishes because democrats and lefties don't care. It's you and the right who want to control consenting adult's legal sex and private lives.

You miss my point. As usual. I am actually a fan of Buttigieg’s success. He’s definitely amongst the brightest politicians of my lifetime. And he served our country as a gay man, which I’m sure never is easy. My point is he can be secretary of whatever with no actual experience in whatever. Because he can figure it out. I hate his political slant, but that’s not relevant to this discussion.

Same with Obama. My college classmate had little to no ‘executive’ experience before becoming the Chief Executive. And I’m sure you would rate him as a success in that job.

Your appreciation for Pete Buttigieg doesn't stop you from insulting him from time to time.

Pete figured it out because he had (a) smart people under him as subject matter experts to advise him and (b)had experience running an executive department, in his case the city government of South Bend, IN and (c) had an elite education.

MWM has experience in government, but no elite education. Let's see how he's going to do, but there were perhaps better. more credentialed people Donny could've chosen. But, Presidents get to have the people they want in their cabinet.

Sometimes executive experience makes for a good President (hello Bill Clinton). And sometimes it doesn't (Hello, George W Bush).

BHO was a success as President because he (a)worked up to the job, with experience in government, in his case as a member of legislatures (b)surrounded himself with smart people and (c)had an elite education about government (d)was a lawyer who understands the ins and outs of laws. I also note that BHO was elected to office the same ways Donny was.

GWB was elected goveror of texas without having held elected or appointed office, then was elected President twice and left the country involved in 2 land wars in Asia and threadbare at home. It took BHO, with a better educaton and more experience in government, to clean up GWB's mess.

Donny was elected without having never ever held elected or appointed office, and look at the mess he left us in in 2021, and look at the mess he's created now.

I really question MWM life choices
We wanted to be a MMA fighter
WTF
Talk about asking to turn you brain into mush via CTE
I can't even watch football anymore due to CTE
No way I'm watching MMA. Human beings inflicting brain damage on each other just to entertain sickos that love violence
The brain is a terrible thing to waste
Huge baseball and basketball fan

I have no memory of him. But he might remember me! I was the only white player on my intratramural championship basketball team so I stood out. My college roommate, who is Black, said he knew ‘Barry’ from college years later.

My other ‘connection’ to BHO is technical. I was his assigned anesthesiologist when he visited Buffalo. As the trauma hospital in Buffalo, we were told to keep an OR available and staffed during his time in the city. I was in charge that day, so picking the room that literally required me to do nothing was an easy choice!

I (almost never) smoked pot in college. It was limited to when I played poker, as my buddies felt I won all the time because I was sober and they were stoned. After a few times smoking with them they came to realize it wasn’t the pot….
