It is just modern-day advertisers. It is actually peak capitalism and consumerism. Brands pay money to have online popular people make videos and talk about their brand. About as free market as it gets. Just like the 1940s/50s when old shows were designed and produced by a brand and they would select their star, which is why a lot of classic TV shows are basically just very elaborate 30 min cigarette commercials. I have a lot of issues with the culture of advertising (especially modern advertising,) but communist or socialist it is not. It actually kind of circles back to WOV and now (to a lesser degree, but it is increasing,) this site. They went from having to adverts, to having 1 tiny advert of an approved online casino (Bovada,) to now WOV basically being a billboard for sketchy online casinos. I know this is not the Wizard's fault since he sold the site, but it is still sad and destroys the atheistic (the same way billboards do on the highway.) |
