I do my own taxes. A medical doctor of course needs a degree. But most degrees I could not care less about. What you do I. The real world is what matters. Left wingers worship paper. Conservatives don’t measure success by paper.

I don't understand why so many people think college is important. Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Rush Limbaugh, the list is gigantic of super successful people who don't have college degrees. The only reason Elon Musk has a few degrees is because he wanted the training and knowledge to become successful at building things from scratch.

A guy I used to know said Scott Walker was a nogo because he did not have his degree, he was a few credits short. I said who on earth cares, his career experience is what matters. Guy thought it was a huge problem. He ghosted me right before Trump was elected in 16.

I would never do college today, it is less needed than ever. The main thing the "better" schools give is you get a network. These days just get a cert or go for tech training. Learn a trade. There is a reason the USA is losing a college a week. That's right! Statistically every week one college is closing right now.

My wife couldn’t be a dentist without college
My first son couldn’t be an entomologist without college
My second son couldn’t be a computer programmer without college (I guess he technically could, but he wouldn’t have even gotten an interview without one)
His wife couldn’t be a school teacher without college.

Of course college isn’t for everyone. There are lots of jobs that don’t require it. But don’t dismiss the myriad of jobs that require one.

Of course college isn’t for everyone. There are lots of jobs that don’t require it. But don’t dismiss the myriad of jobs that require one.

Probably 90% of jobs do not require college. Maybe an additional 10% it is "nice to have." We send twice the kids to college as we should be. We need to seriously reconsider how we do college in the USA. And we need to stop worshiping degrees.

Oregon allows people to become lawyers without attending law school through an apprenticeship program or other alternative pathways.

I went the traditional way with college, law school and the bar exam (passed it first and only time I took it, ye of little faith).
