You can get enough people to support child car seat laws, but not enough people to support more restraints on adults drinking and driving. Unfortunately, few things are solved with simple solutions. If your wife had a medical emergency and you had a couple drinks, I'm sure you'd want an emergency override to take her to the hospital if no other fast access to ambulance transport.
