It's funny to hear Republicans talk about threats from China. Is China reducing their influence around the world, shrinking their intelligence agencies, decreasing funds to university level research, threatening their allies? And they're still stealing tech from us.

Reminds me, is Trump still trying to get everyone at the CIA to retire, resign or whatever it was. That would probably remove 1000 years of collective experience.

No problem, aye?

You might as well replace the whole government. Unless you're going to pay them more. they're not going to work harder just because they have more work..

They already make too much, they're not going to get paid more. I read the average paycheck in the United states for private citizens is 55,000 a year, for government workers $115,000 a year. For sitting on their fat asses doing nothing. This is why government work has always been so appealing to a certain section of the United States, you get to make tons of money for doing almost nothing and they can't get rid of you. And you're wrong about people not working harder just because they have more work. If you're livelihood is threatened because you're refusing to work and they can get rid of you now, you'll work harder.

I remember most of my life in my state the Department of Motor Vehicles was a horrible place to go because it was 70% minorities who worked there and it's like their feet were stuck in molasses. Everything was done in super super slow motion and they were always looking at the clock and you waited forever for your number to be called. Government workers. That all changed about 10 years ago. Now when you go into the DMV it's all streamlined and it's only about 20% minorities. You can actually get in there and out of there in a very reasonable amount of time. And in the old days some of those women were so incredibly obese they could barely stand up. They're all gone now. Everybody there still has a really bad attitude but they work a lot harder than they ever did before.

Funny how you hear that "someone can always make more in the private sector". Never heard the opposite.

That's true for certain high-level jobs. For for grunt level jobs which describes most government workers, you can always make more working for the government. And their benefits are usually out of this world, as are the retirement benefits.

That is because if you are in the private sector you make more if you provide more value to people and employers.

My mother, may she RIP, worked for the VA as an adjudicator. She said there was always an unspoken pressure from other employees to do LESS WORK, because if you were too efficient, there would be pressure to not have as many employees.
If there was a budget, there was NO WAY a manager would allow the year end total spent to be under budget. Because then next year your budget would be slashed. Welcome to the Federal Government Musk is tasked with paring down

I am currently working as a "contractor" to a state government office. This is my first time working for a government office and I can tell you those stereotypes that we have heard about government employees seem to be accurate from where I am at. I am actually surprised, I assumed most of those stereotypes were exaggerated but now I believe most are probably true. Having a 35 year background in commercial business, it is astounding to me that people actually work like this.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Did Trump forget he was going to not have taxes on tips? Seems to have forgotten about it.

What does the governor of any state have to do with the inefficiency of government workers. The whole point of getting a job in government is to get paid for doing almost nothing or as little as possible. This is true at all levels in state government City Government Federal Government it doesn't matter. There are always protections built in and after you've been there for just a short time you can screw up as much as you want and they can't get rid of you.

So, Trump is just making what is left even more inefficient.
