Tariffs are WAY more complicated than you make them out to be. Simple example. The US produces widgets at a cost of $1. Sells them for $2 to make a profit. China decides that it wants to be the widget maker of the world. Starts selling widgets for $.90.
Should President impose tariff on imported widgets or just let USA widget manufacturer go under?

I do agree with you that Trump is not the best person to decide when and when not to use tariffs.

I’ve been involved in hiring (as residents) literally hundreds of young doctors. Maybe 1/2 American. 1/2 foreign. I can’t say I have ANY recollection of thinking one group was better (or worse) than the other.

As for me, I rented m upstairs apartment to an immigrant family from one of Trump's "shithole" countries. They were quiet, respectful and paid their rent on time. The previous American tenants? One was arrested for unarmed bank robbery to feed his drug habit. The other two eventually died at a young age due to the effects of their drug use. And they were always behind on their rent. Give me on time paying immigrants any day of the week. We here accept immigrants.
