This report from Newsweek...

Thanks for the info.

Seems odd that he'd sue simply to make a point: I wonder what the context / legal theory of the lawsuit was?

Regardless, there is one important point which some seem not to have considered when speculating as to "What happened?"

The descent was scheduled to take two hours, but contact was lost with the Titan 1:45 hours after the descent began, which leads me to to conclude the event happened before they reached the wreck site.

Probably an implosion.

in the news, there's the knock they heard every 30 minutes, I'm not sure if that is continuing. The thought is that the non-random nature of that means it could be them, and there wasn't an implosion, which would be instant death

If it's true of course

That is a common tactic of distressed submariners to make a loud noise at consistent intervals to signal for help.

Pretty stupid from a business point
Must have been convinced to do this due to social media brainwashing

They may never find that thing.

"The surface search is approximately two times the size of Connecticut (10,000 sq. miles) , and the sub-surface search is up to two and a half miles deep."

'A CBS reporter who took a dive in the Titanic submersible said it got lost for up to 5 hours and that the mother ship shut off its internet so passengers couldn't tweet about the mishap'

I was a passenger on this one a long time ago

Probably a bad omen to name your craft "Titan".

I have looked into sub tours before. The few I found were just short trips that don't go very deep. Never got to do the Disney ride as a kid.

I have already lost interest in the missing sub story. They’re gone. Hope their families enjoy the inheritances.

It definitely isn't going to last as long as the Filipino football team kids trapped in a cave.

Then there's Jessie McClure trapped in a well.

Quote:
Following McClure's rescue on October 16, 1987, doctors feared they would have to amputate Jessica's foot due to damage from loss of blood flow sustained from her leg being elevated above her head for the 58 and a half hours she was stuck in the well. They decided to try hyperbaric therapy in an attempt to avoid full amputation.[11] In the end, surgeons only had to amputate a toe due to gangrene caused by loss of circulation while she was in the well. Jessica carries a scar on her forehead where her head rubbed against the well casing and despite the incident and 15 subsequent related surgeries, retains no first-hand memory of the events.[12] Her parents divorced in 1990.[13]

Paramedic Robert O'Donnell (August 27, 1957 – April 27, 1995) committed suicide at the age of 37 by shooting himself in the head with a shotgun due to developing post-traumatic stress disorder after the rescue.[13]

In May 2004, McClure graduated from Greenwood High School, in a small community near Midland. On January 28, 2006, she married Daniel Morales at the Church of Christ in Notrees, Texas, about 40 mi (60 km) from Midland. They met at a day care center where she worked with his sister.[14] They have two children, a son born in 2007 and a daughter born in 2009.[15]

When McClure turned 25 on March 26, 2011, she received a trust fund, composed of donations from around the world, which she discussed using for her children's college and which she used to purchase her home, less than 2 mi (3 km) from the well into which she fell.[12] However, she also indicated that a great deal of the fund was lost in the 2008 stock market crash.[16]
