Think what you want, but tech is evolving.

Look at the recent run up in Ford stock now that they are getting into that line of work: glad I own a bunch of it, it had been a bit of a dog as of late.
Maybe all the hopes for Solar will come true one day. The battery storage idea has been slow to implement, probably because the utilities hold down costs by using fossil fuel at night instead of stored battery power. Solar has been around for about 50 years for use by utilities.

I think home use is where the big advantages are
When I do monthly stays. They put me on a meter
I pay like 20 bucks a month or less for electricity because I use so much solar

The problem with home solar is the initial cost of acquisition and installation.

My former secretary had panels put on the roof of her home and IIRC she said the whole thing was about $50K.

She'll need to generate a lot of power to recoup that investment.

Unless she uses a lot of power. her payoff isn't there. When did she do this? Solar panel prices have plummeted in recent years. Sounds pricey.

It was early on, ten or so years ago.

Could have been closer to $40K, I'm a bit hazy on the number but it was in that ballpark.

The infamous Kars4Kids jingle may finally be disappearing from California airwaves. A judge has permanently barred the nonprofit from broadcasting its catchy “1-877-Kars4Kids” ads in the state unless the commercials clearly disclose where donation money actually goes. The ruling stems from a lawsuit brought by California resident Bruce Puterbaugh, who donated his 2001 Volvo to the charity before later claiming he felt misled by the organization’s advertising. Puterbaugh argued the commercials gave the impression that proceeds benefited underprivileged children broadly across California and the U.S., without mentioning the charity’s ties to Orthodox Jewish educational programs primarily based in New York and New Jersey. The court ultimately sided with Puterbaugh, finding the omission amounted to deceptive advertising. The lawsuit accused the organization of primarily using donated funds to help finance trips to Israel and other programs for Orthodox Jewish teens rather than the broader children’s causes many donors may have assumed they were supporting. The judge also ordered Kars4Kids to reimburse Puterbaugh $250 for his donated vehicle along with covering legal costs.

I read this. I think this is fraud that should be prosecutable. I hate hearing about charities that don’t use the money for the intended recipients.
