Yeah, you'd think an elevated PSA reading would have been noted earlier during routine medical exams.

I thought that prostate cancer typically was fairly slow to progress, leading to early detection?

Sounds like it is treatable though: hope for the best.

This is a WOW! Prostate cancer is extremely easy to detect BEFORE it is metastatic. It is frankly inconceivable that a man in Biden’s position would not have had the cancer discovered before it was metastatic. Of course we will never know with any certainty, but I’d bet he and his doctors (and handlers) have known about his cancer for quite a while. But why? None of this makes any sense?

My father in law has been in the hospital in rural Montana for a few days with a prostate issue and crashing hemoglobin levels. He lives in a town of 200 people and had to go to the bigger city for the hospital. That city has 3000 people. Today they decided they couldn't diagnose it and sent him on a four hour ambulance ride to a big city hospital. Our fear is prostate cancer but we probably won't know more until tomorrow or Tuesday.

There’s a YouTube channel called “The Patient’s story”. Day after day, there’s another cancer story almost always stage 4 when they find out.

Biden has had cancer removed twice already even before this.

There are some cancers that our present technology has not cracked ‘early detection’ very successfully. Prostate cancer they have. The PSA test, (developed here in Buffalo!) is an easy single blood test that clues the doctors in if they need to do more tests (MRI, biopsy). Any man with access to good medical care should find out they have prostate cancer before it metastasizes, as prostate cancer is amongst the slowest growing cancers.

Could be some factors conspired to hide the illness. Worsening urinary problems attributed to old men having tinkle problems unrelated to prostate. Any impact of the metastasis on his gait or musculo-skeleton pain or discomfort attributed to his well-known stiff gait due to arthritis. Could also be his illness is the one 30-40 prostate cancers in 100 that isn''t readily detectable via a PSA. Could also be his case exposes the limits of medical knowledge his case was just beyond that limit.
