While I heard of 86 as soon as I lived in Vegas, I just assumed it was one of those codes like they use at big box stores. Certain numbers used as codes to announce through the store to tell employees about something going on they don't want to announce to everyone.

I can say that to say '86' where I come from doesn't necessarily mean to kill or destroy, just 'get rid of' ........ seems to me Comey had a way out of this but fell into the trap of responding before thinking?
