Do you remember all of the criticism of Jill Biden for using the title of Doctor? Critics contended that it was completely improper for a PhD to use the title in a non academic setting. So how many times have you heard or read “Dr. Kissinger” in the past week? I wonder what the difference is.

I wouldn't take that literally.

Likely related to nepotism.

Part of the difference is he isn't using it, the people telling his eulogy are using it. FWIW I agree, you do not use "Dr" unless you are some kind of medical doctor.

I don't believe in using any titles outside of the workplace. I have had the pleasure of meeting our own Soopoo and would never refer to him as doctor unless he was supply me with Propofol.

Showing the tilted news bubble you live in again AMS. He won the Nobel Peace Prize and accomplished more for the US than anyone since. He was also ruthless and was not a nice man. You can thank him for a lot of the stability in the world and the spoilt life style that you were able to grow up in.

You cannot always be nice and get the job done. FDR rounded Americans up and put them in concentration camps during WWII. Probably needed to do it, but nice?
