Both scenarios are possible and some would argue likely (runoffs are common in GA). I think it may actually help Walker more since most of the third party votes are going to libertarian candidates (in GA), who will likely just vote Republican when forced into two. It will also galvanize the Trump voters. Ideally Warnock will win in the initial election, but I also would be almost surprised to not see a runoff with how close it is (if no candidate breaches 50% a runoff is mandatory). Warnock is ahead, but when you factor in the people who will shift to Walker when no other options remain (IE the runoff), and the fact that certain groups are less likely to vote twice in the same year, it gives and edge to Walker (in my opinion) in the event of a runoff. |
