Well, we are willing to consider a third party candidate who isn't a wacko, who has rational policy positions. So far, the US electorate thinks nobody fits that bill. Want to get rid of the two party system? Then run a third party candidate that would earn votes.

A viable third party candidate, who actually succeeds in willing electoral votes, would plunge elections into chaos and would most likely cause contingent elections-decided by the House for Prez and Senate for VP. Unless, of course, we get rid of the electoral college.

The thing to ask is, is anyone anywhere in any country getting consistently better results with their style of elected government? That’d be the first system I’d look at.

And there are plenty of worse results we could avoid, but consistently better over time, not so sure.

I'm voting for the gay guy: Chase Oliver, Libertarian candidate for POTUS.

Things getting interesting in FL
Trump OK with recreational MJ
Desantis against.
Abortion on the ballot also
Desantis against while Trump waffled then went against.
I think the people of FL ok with choice and MJ
With both on the ballot, will Harris take FL?

Not a chance. FL is in the red column for the foreseeable future.

Kinda looks like Harris is following a playbook of Bill Clinton co-opting policies she likes.

One thing that needs to change is the phenom of someone who got less than a majority, to win. In other words, we should have not 2, maybe not 3, maybe 4-6 candidates on the ballot*, making one getting 51% of the vote unlikely. But then have a runoff election with the two candidates who survived so one gets the majority.

The Whig party got so sclerotic and dysfunctional it went bye-bye. This should probably happen to both parties we have now, but a new party really can't get going because the Presidential election is so important in our system.

* I do favor making it easier to get on the ballot, but not super easy.

in response to your point, many good candidates are out there, but they don't want to run 3rd party and just be a spoiler

We're going to one Party.

The elections will be for those of the one Party but eventually, not any greater than one of the Party will be allowed on the ballot.
