The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae ," 77 "by the very commission of the offense," 78 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. 79 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society. . . . https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/resource/55003/abortion-catechism-of-the-catholic-church ------------------------------------------------------------------------ What is excommunication? https://catholicstraightanswers.com/what-is-excommunication/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

I haven't gone and adopted a kid as penance for having unprotected sex, so I'm not about to make that decision for women. If the state wants to support childbearing from conception they need to offer to have it removed free of charge and implant it in a volunteer's womb, or grow it in a state sponsored lab. Surrogate mothers (embryo transplants) are used in other animals that I know of. But they're mostly used for genetic purposes. I haven't considered it in humans in your context. That certainly could be one option if there were enough volunteers. I'd think the spiritual consequences could be less negative. |

Democrats are the ones who say they need special preferences to compete with whites. Democrats are the ones who are in favor of colleges discriminating based on skin color. And Democrats praised a former KKK senator of theirs in the 2000s. Republicans do none of this." AZDuffman, you were being too kind. The Republican Party was created by Black men. The KKK is associated with Slavery (both physical and financial) and the Democrat Party. It's well known. The issue becomes getting ostracized, if opposed by peers of the left. For example, Senator Byrd, which you alluded to. Republicans might refuse a pic with Byrd, but peer pressure forced Biden to pose in celebration for the world to see. |

Some of the oldest people in the world smoke. I have read that the radiation in the atmosphere from nuclear testing can be dangerous to our systems. Supposedly, the mucus from smoking protects the lungs against the radiation and later ejected from the system. It could explain the influx of cancer from non-smokers too. I realize we've added chemicals but tobacco can still be grown for personal use, similar to the Native Americans using it as a medicine. |

Yes, different issues. Stopping 50% of abortions will increase crime. |

Absolutely shocking to me that any sentient human being could be dumb enough to believe that Mother Teresa had anything to do with that man’s recovery. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

I don't think it's "dumb" but it's healthy to be skeptical. |

It's possible for Biden to become excommunicated if he's Catholic after signing the abortion executive order. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Excommunication of Margaret McBride . . . Decision and excommunication McBride was an administrator and member of the ethics committee at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona, which is owned by Catholic Healthcare West, later, Dignity Health. On 27 November 2009, the committee was consulted on the case of a 27-year-old woman who was eleven weeks pregnant with her fifth child and suffering from pulmonary hypertension. Her doctors stated that the woman's chance of dying if the pregnancy was allowed to continue was "close to 100 percent". McBride joined the ethics committee in approving the decision to terminate the pregnancy through an induced abortion. The abortion took place and the mother survived. Afterwards, the abortion came to the attention of Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix. Olmsted spoke to McBride privately and she confirmed her participation in the procurement of the abortion. Olmsted informed her that in allowing the abortion, she had incurred a latae sententiae (an automatic) excommunication. McBride was subsequently reassigned from her post as vice president of mission integration at the hospital. In May 2010, the incident came to the attention of the Arizona Republic newspaper, which asked the hospital and the bishop for comments. Both the bishop and the hospital provided answers to the newspaper's request, and the two statements were published online, on 15 May 2010. In December 2010, Olmsted announced that the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix was severing its affiliation with the hospital, after months of discussion had failed to obtain from the hospital management a promise not to perform abortions in the future. "If we are presented with a situation in which a pregnancy threatens a woman's life, our first priority is to save both patients. If that is not possible, we will always save the life we can save, and that is what we did in this case," said hospital president Linda Hunt. "Morally, ethically, and legally, we simply cannot stand by and let someone die whose life we might be able to save." . . . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excommunication_of_Margaret_McBride |
