A very telling admission

When a boat gets too rotted to function it is time to burn it. Why do you think so many GOP House Reps retired in 2018? Trump wanted to end the party that we still call Congress. He would not start a war to make the military happy. Good for him for not listening to the establishment. Listening to them means going along with the swamp.

It appears you support said bureaucracy?

I believe the proper term for destroying the boat is to scuttle it.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Yes, of course I do: it is necessary for all governments to act bureaucratically.

What, didn't you pay attention during civics class?

Typically Congress passes laws and agencies make rules and regulations to implement them.

By nature bureaucracies tend to become somewhat static and hidebound but a deft hand at the presidential helm can cut through it; Trump was clueless in that regard, he didn't want to play ball with existing bureaucrats, so they decided to bring him down.

I'm glad that fat, festering hemorrhoid has been excised from the body politic; now he can devote more time to admiring and trying to emulate his mentor and seeming black-mailer, Putin.

I think that is at sea. When a filthy slave ship pulled into port they burned it to the waterline.

I did pay attention. My civics class did not say anything about a good government being full of political class types who feed at the tax trough. Maybe yours did?

Let us assume you are correct, and that your fearless leader really intended to "drain the swamp."

I saw no clear evidence that he succeeded, other than him appointing clueless obstructionist "yes men" who then acted on his commands to destroy as much of what Obama had implemented as possible, to basically search and destroy without offering any viable replacement.

There are imperfections in government, including bureaucracy; gov't work attracts, for the most part, dullards and folks with no initiative or creative urge.

The best and the brightest avoid gov't service as being toxic.

So yeah, lots of lazy, opportunistic bureaucrats out there, in the USA and pretty much all countries.

"Drain the swamp" was good for a sound bite but in the end the swamp won.

There is an old saying that is applicable "It is hard to remember that the original idea was to drain the swamp when you are up to your arse in alligators"
"but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin
