Liberalism worked to get us out of the Great Depression. FDR roared while Hoover slept. JFK and LBJ achieved needed social reform. But otherwise, not so much. |

The fractured democratic party is the problem as it prevents then from acting as a unified front; you'd best hope it continues, just like you'd best hope the arabs remain at each other's throats over what has to be the biggest BS issue of all time, which lead to the Sunni/Shiite schism. |

No, WWII got us out of the Depression. Liberalism made it longer and deeper. LBJ destroyed the black family and made a permanent underclass. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

You beat me to it. World War most definitely got us out of the Great Depression, Roosevelt was just making it worse. And the welfare act created a class of people that we never had before, a permanent underclass of fatherless families and mothers raising future drug addicts and gang members. Thanks LBJ.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Not funny at all. 'Mobilizing the economy for world war finally cured the depression. Millions of men and women joined the armed forces, and even larger numbers went to work in well-paying defense jobs." If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

My guess is we are one terror attack away from having to go back. Because it will go like this: Group X operates out of Afghanistan, blows up something, U.S. demands Taliban turn over the group leaders, Taliban refuse, repeat of 2001.... “It is insane for the U.S. to think the Taliban can be a reliable counterterrorism partner, given the Taliban’s enduring support for al-Qaida,” Roggio said. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2021/10/taliban-hasnt-changed-afghanistan/620371/ " In the months since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, it has overseen a steady return to the pre-2001 status quo. Women, who previously made up a little more than a quarter of the country’s Parliament and 6.5 percent of its ministerial posts, have been excluded from the Taliban’s interim government. And despite assurances that women would still be allowed to work and study, many have yet to be invited back to their offices and classrooms, as their male peers have. In perhaps the most ominous sign of things to come for Afghan women, the building that was once the Ministry of Women’s Affairs has been repurposed to house the reestablished Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Taliban’s morality police." “I don’t want the world to forget us the same way they did in the ’90s.” |

Wrong. The war only provided temporary relief. The unemployed soldiers then needed jobs and the demand for war goods shut down that industry. The economy wasn't magically fixed on its own after the war. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

What economy? West Germany? The USA economy BOOMED after WWII. A very short, sharp recession as business switched away from wartime production. After that, B-O-O-M. Returning GIs bought cars, houses, and everything to fill those houses. Really, where do you get this stuff? War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

You said the war ended the depression. That's not factual. It just provided temporary employment. It wasn't a fix. If it was, explain how. You won't be able to. Get your facts straight. "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |
