What is the premium for low or "special" numbers? How much would a "regular" plate in similar condition go for?

A regular number for a 1913 Vermont in that condition would be worth about $300. If this were the true first issued license plate in Vermont for that year, I think the value would be about $3,000 to $5,000. However, some states lots of number 1 plates, for the governor to give out as gifts, I assume. You see #1 plates from Delaware on Ebay all the time. Personally, I'm going to stay out of this one.

Coins and license plates are good examples of
collectibles that were never meant to be collected.
Stamps too, up until about 1950, when they started
issuing stamps just for their collectibility. Real
collectibles can only exist if rarity is involved.
I once sold a telegraph key from the Civil War
for $5000 on Ebay. I had no idea what it was
worth, I paid $40 for half a dozen keys at an
auction. But the telegraph key collectors of the
world let me know it's value, God bless em..

And the inventor of the Beanie Babies is a billionaire.

There are three states I put an emphasis on when it comes to license plates, the three I have lived in -- California, Nevada, and Maryland. The only year I'm missing from a Maryland run (one plate for each year) is 1910, the first year of issue.

The 1910 Maryland was made of a very thin and poor-quality metal. For this reason, few survive to this day, and most of those are in terrible shape. What few known nice ones rarely change hands.

That said, there is a very nice one, at least grading on a curve, on Ebay.

1910 Maryland License Plate VG ORIGINAL PAINT Amazing!! Low Number 3-Digit Rare

$6,000 is a reasonable price for this license plate. Probably not low enough to actually sell, but if you wanted one this nice, you would find it very hard to find a better price. If I were doing better financially, I would buy it. At this time, I can't justify it. Too bad it isn't a no reserve auction. I bet it would go for about $3,000 if it were.

The price on the 1910 Maryland has dropped to $5,334.

Baseball cards might be the first item
specifically made to be collected. They
came with cigarette tobacco, it was
supposed to encourage you to buy
that brand so you could get all the cards.

They purposely made very few cards
of certain players, which made you buy
more tobacco trying to get that one
missing card.

The cops need to be FIRED! No warning, no suspension, F-I-R-E-D! Clearly they do not have enough common sense to be LEOs.

Couple does not at all fit the profile of car thieves. So he should start by not pulling guns but pulling him over. Then ask what seems wrong here. That it came to this so fast means the cops involved maybe can find jobs as graveyard security at Circus Circus.
