It had to be amazing for him to beat out a dead guy, who was overwhelming the sentimental favorite. After 29 years and four nominations where he didn't win, it is nice to see him win once more at the age of 83. Best Actor 1992 The Silence of the Lambs Won 1994 The Remains of the Day Nominated 1996 Nixon Nominated 1998 Amistad Nominated Best Supporting Actor 2020 The Two Popes Nominated 2021 The Father Won In 1968, Hopkins got his break in The Lion in Winter playing Richard the Lionheart, a performance which saw him nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. |
