As far as the old white guy goes, I don't care what he did for a career. He's clearly a thin old man, so just cuff him and take him away gently if he's in your way. I don't think assault charges will hold up, either and I don't think they are valid.

I think that the police can sometimes make a mistake and not use the minimum amount of force necessary without simultaneously having committed a crime as a result and this is one example.

The "career" you speak of is being a professional agitator. Thing is, if you are frail and old you naturally will stay away from a column of cops clearing an area. This guy did not.

If you see cops in "hot" action you need to steer clear, not get in the way. We are talking common sense.

I don't disagree with that or see any disconnect in what I said and what you said. I only said I don't care what his career is. He could be a career drug dealer. Career agitator. Career accountant. You shouldn't push frail looking old people unless it's absolutely necessary, that's all.

And what I am saying is he put himself in harm's way intentionally, wanting to be roughed up.

That doesn't mean the police had to oblige.

It also does not mean he gets a pat on the back and an "excuse me."

A grown man knows when the police are in formation to clear an area you get the heck out. To channel the captain, rough stuff is how he wanted it. Well, he gets it.

Peaceful protest means "PEACEFUL." Interfering with the cops is not "peaceful."

And it is pretty sad the movement hides behind an old man. Will they be holding up babies in front of the cops next?

I literally said he should have been cuffed and taken away.

I think somebody on here said "what if he had a baby on his back" some days ago.... I am too lazy to search for it now.

But, the point is the result is the same, if you approach a riot line you will be pushed back. They did not beat him, they did not kick him, they did not even spray him (which they would have been well within their right to do). They literally pushed him back and he fell.

If you can't handle a push don't charge a riot line... The police did nothing wrong in this case, but local politicians are letting the emotional mobs run the legal department apparently....

Charge?????? WTF. Did you watch the video?
He was walking slowly. Real slow shuffle.
The police could have simply arrested him instead of putting him in the hospital.

Its odd that AC has such a high ration. Well, maybe not, it is a tourist town (far more tourists than full time residents), so basing the number purely on residents ratio is misleading.... I guess that explains the oddly high ratios for many tourists cities (Myrtle Beach being #2)

I guess it is # 1 in something though !
