This happened yesterday.

Like all the others, the suspect was arrested and released without charges, 'pending investigation by the DA'.

Now he's a neighborhood hero.

Defund the police. No bail.

NYC is going downhill fast, but I guess that is fine with many...

I still consider it one of the best places to visit on the planet
So much to do there. NYC rocks
I remember going to many Grateful Dead shows at the Garden

Oh, bother...

There is a huge disconnect in most cities between the places most tourists visit and the real places people of lesser means live.

Your comment reeks of the elitism that we feel because they keep it relatively safe for us visitors and the more upscale residents while the very people who need help may well suffer because we listen to defund the police instead of help the police be better.

I enjoy NYC. Been there many times. That means jackcrap when talking about what is happening in the city. Crime is up. Criminals are let go with no bail. Then they commit more crimes.

Looks like from a historical perspective, crime is still really down in NYC. Although, no doubt the riots really skewed the property damage and robbery and assault for 2020.

Ever been to NYC? It's a smelly
hole, I can't wait to leave the
minute I get there.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Murders are up for the year and were up last year. That is an important number to keep from going up because, well, you don't recover from being dead...most other crime, you have a chance to come back from...

Do you really think defunding the police, getting rid of anti-crime units, no bail, etc. is the way to keep crime down in the city? The city was doing a good job over the years and they risk tossing it away instead of working on the issues without doing stupid things.

I have been there many times.

I don't find it a "smelly hole" at all; I just find it is too crowded for my taste. I enjoy a 2-3 night stay and then I am ready to move along. See a show, have a great meal, see some sights, skate at Rockefeller Center, etc. and then go home.

It's not exactly what I would support, but if New Yorkers want to do all that stuff -- well, I've never voted in any presidential election for what happens in NYC anyway.

So 7/9 of the Seattle City Council want to cut the police budget by 50%.

Insanity, after a portion of their city was declared as an autonomous state...
