You can't beat the virus
It's about flattening the curve
SK is doing that

Probably not you TP but some of the posters here have used the word 'beaten'. As is the US same death rate. Rather than the phrase 'flattening the curve' I like the phrase 'prolong the misery'.

Hmmmmmmm

-on Mar 1, 2020 the ban on single use plastic shopping bags goes into effect in NY. Shoppers in NY start using reusable shopping bags.

-on March 1,2010 the first case of COVID-19 in New York was conformed

-as of March 26, 2020 NY has over 37,000 cases of COVID-19

Did the desire to be environment friendly in NY facilitate the spread of the virus?

Dear lord this is one of the weakest arguments I’ve ever seen.

The big difference is in the measures that each country took. As I understand it, South Korea did not shut everything down and close a huge swath of businesses. They were able to remain much closer to normal as opposed to the total lockdown we are under here without widespread testing and tracing. So similar results in the deaths per million, without the same economic devastation.

I wonder why this is happening:

They have these shields in our H-E-B. I am in favor of them--they keep the closest person to you, the cashier, shielded from you (and vice versa). You can still have a conversation, etc. and they have at least some protection doing their essential work.

I went to Target today to get a couple things. Used the self checkout. Only one of the four self checkout registers was open. In between every single customer a worker came over and sprayed and wiped down the register, touch screen, credit card swiper, etc.

The stores in BC banned the use of reusable bags a week ago because of the crisis. Presumably they think they are a danger.

My local costco have the plexiglass sheilds protecting cashiers and customer service. They no longer handle your membership card, scan it through the plaxiglass. Also have markers on the floor to keep people apart.
