I do think that an agreed, bi-partisan approach to covid would have led to more people following the script, whatever it may have been. Sort of like how we all got behind the gov't in WWII and bought bonds, sacrificed, planted victory gardens etc. In unity there is strength; divided we fall. |

I think you see WWII through rose coloured glasses. It was a very divisive time for the US. The quote below is from Politico Magazine maybe do a little research. This was a very divided country during World War 2. Lots of people joined the Army but most of them went because they got drafted. People loved Roosevelt and almost as many people hated his guts. The armed services and everything else was totally segregated, African American troops could not fight alongside regular troops. They had their own special units. Japanese were put in internment camps. Politically the country was a mess but we did unite behind getting the war done. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
