Hopefully there is a Coronavirus Vaccine before this year is over.

If one is found hopefully it is not mandatory.

Do not get your hopes up. There may be but important to remember that there has never been a human vaccine successfully developed for a coronavirus. Hopefully the huge efforts being put in will make this one different.

is it because they could not find one or because there was not enough funding available to find one?

"Why don’t we have a vaccine against other human coronaviruses? The emergence of Sars and Mers, in 2002 and 2012 respectively, were either quashed relatively quickly or affected small numbers of people. Despite the interest from keen virologists, there was no economic incentive to develop a vaccine for these diseases as they posed a small threat at the time. Virologists with an interest in coronaviruses were struggling to secure funding for their research."

30 million deaths a year and no Malaria vaccine. Billions spent on aids and no vaccine. Our seasonal flu vaccine is not 100%. Not much chance we get an effective vaccine in a few months, they typically take 5 to 10 years. Lots of companies trying and claiming progress. Who wouldn't when the government is throwing 100's of millions at them.

This is the big question. Undoubtedly there has not been the level of funding and effort put into finding a vaccine as we are seeing now. So that is the hope. But realistically anyone hoping for one this year is dreaming. With all the approvals required before you can turn up to your doctors office for a jab means we will almost certainly be waiting a while yet.

Concerning malaria

Quote:
Malaria transmission in the United States was eliminated in the early 1950s through the use of insecticides, drainage ditches and the incredible power of window screens.

Do you really need a vaccine?

A month and a half ago:

Donny has been an unmitigated disaster for our country.

I think everyone in the country knows that Donald Trump's bombastic personality led him to the massive underestimates of the final death toll.

But in contrast, Sweden, has basically gone on air and admitted that the government's decision not to have mandatory quarantine cost them a much bigger death rate than all their neighboring countries. Yet the political fall-out seems minimal.

Deaths per 100,000 from COVID-19
64.4 UK
60.6 Spain
57.5 Italy
52.8 Sweden
45.7 France
39.3 USA
...
10.8 Germany
10.4 Denmark
5.9 Finland
4.6 Norway

The US lost 130K so far to COVID-19 and will probably pass the ~170K deaths due to unintentional injury (the 3rd leading cause of death). COVID is not expected to go anywhere near (1) heart disease, and (2) cancer which together account for almost half the deaths in the US.

You are right not much malaria in the US. A couple of thousand cases a year and most are from returning travelers. I guess that you are not very concerned about the rest of the world, that isn't a very liberal attitude maybe you are closet conservative.

"Globally, the World Health Organization estimates that in 2018, 228 million clinical cases of malaria occurred, and 405,000 people died of malaria, most of them children in Africa."

My City mandated masks as of 0800 this morning in a public places, exceptions are if you are alone in your vehicle, or are actively eating, drinking, or smoking.

There is also an exemption for properties that are religious (that is the only public exemption for organizations) for some reason (despite the fact that churches mob people together in tight interior places, often old people... I do not understand this exemption... Must be political...)

Police will offer you a mask if you don't have one. If you refuse the mask, 500USD fine for a first time violation.

You missed the point by a mile.

Draining standing water around living spaces, window screens, and insecticide not a vaccine nearly eliminated it in the USA. We have children here as well, btw..
