On a slightly off topic point (But I figured it was somewhat valid to ask here since pretty much everyone here gambles, given badically everyone here is a WOV member), has anyone been to a casino on Thanksgiving?

It seems like it would be depressing. But I would also imagine there would be some deals to lure in people who have nowhere to go. Anyone ever do a Thanksigivng Day trip to a casino?

Thanksgiving, not that I can remember. I do stop in on Christmas Eve most years before I visit the family because I like that surreal dead feel sometimes. When Christmas Eve was on a Sunday it was booming before 4, NFL games on. Most years there were maybe 6 degenerates in the poker room and 3-4 table games open. One year they were paging joke names. I chatted with the bartender. I cannot imagine it after 8.

I think the restaurants will draw a fair crowd, along with some who will watch the games at the sports book. Never been yet, probably will before I die.

Bah humbug. Haven't liked it since I
was a kid. I've always had to cook
on Tgiving as an adult and learned
to hate it. Luckily I have to do nothing
this year because my wife's dad had
the good graces to go into a coma
last week at 95 and is dying
. So it
gets me out of cooking this year.
for that I'm thankful..

Note: Emphasis mine.

This is one of the best EB posts ever. If there was ever a quote to remember EB by, this would be near the top of my list.

Also, I wish all DT members a happy Thanksgiving. We should be thankful for the good things we have every day. Of all the holidays, Thanksgiving is one of my favorites. There isn't a great deal of wasteful spending like Christmas, but a day to unite as families and friends and enjoy a good meal.

Thanksgiving is one of the days I am proudest of my country. How we have it made well enough to celebrate.

Unfortunately, tomorrow is without a doubt the day I am most embarrassed to be an American.

I agree with both statements.

I was actually about to start a Black Friday thread, pointing out the American hypocrisy, but was too unmotivated to type it out today.

But, yeah I think it's sad how people mob like cows to save a few dollars on a TV, right after the day for being thankful for what you have.

I don't think stores should be open Thanksgiving night to start "Early Blackfriday" at 1700 and other such nonsense.

In the last 3 years I've learned
to love Black Friday. Because
of Target, Amazon and Walmart
online. I get goodies every year
and am actually counting the
hours till it starts.

My father in law is a miserable
person. He made my wife and
siblings go thru hell as kids.
A Bible thumping poorly educated
rural hick, he used the Bible as a
weapon to lord it over everybody
and beat his kids with a belt
almost daily. They really loathe
him, but love him because he's
their father.

So yeah, it's a blessing that jackass
is in a coma. Only the good die
young.

I do not call it hypocricy myself, thought the words we use do not matter much for how pathetic it all is. It more a mixture of greed and filling empty lives with "stuff." Best Buy near my mother usually has people lined up from around 10:00. Haven't noticed them as much since the dog died and I do not go with her to the park. Always meant to crawl by and scream "LOSERS!" to those lined up.

Credit where it is due, about 10 years ago the real craziness peaked and since they are more making people act like human beings, or at the least not letting people get runned over in the stampede.

Tomorrow is the first day after I have had to work in years. That's gonna be a little weird feeling, but I am in an office so gonna be a ton of sending emails to people taking the day off. And things move on.

Many times. The regulars (degens) were still there. Every major holiday seemed to result in an uptick of Asian patrons, but it could have been just optics.

My local casino is busy on every
holiday. Vegas is dead because
Tgiving is a fam holiday that
people like to celebrate in a
family home, not in a Vegas
buffet. My local casino gets
crowded after dinner is over.
