If you realize that you've bought more than you can eat for the next few weeks, you should *hard boil some of them, so that those at least will last longer *just keep them refrigerated no fair looking it up! Even though I already know the approximate time it takes an egg to rot, I'm still not sure about the hard boiled approach. I would guess it adds lifespan, but am not sure. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

Also dessicated egg yolks keep forever and can be used as one would use cheese or pasta. in Australia eggs are stored at ambient temperatures and never refrigerated. |

kenarman Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 14 Posts: 4511 | One of my first jobs was working in a grocery store. They sometimes had an overstock of eggs since it was a standard order each week. If sales were slow eggs would sometimes spend up to 6 weeks in the cool (not refrigerated) basement before going up to the cooler to be sold. In the USA eggs are washed, which washes off the coating that helps keep the eggs fresh without refrigeration. Most of the rest of the world doesn’t wash eggs, and doesn’t refrigerate them. Neither is better. It’s just different. |

Wizard Administrator Member since: Oct 23, 2012 Threads: 239 Posts: 6095 | When I visited a friend in Costa Rica I noticed they kept their raw eggs in a bowl at room temperature. I asked if they were worried about them going bad and they said the US is the only country that does refrigerate eggs. Is this true? Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |
