Trump will not be sworn in as President Jan 20, 2021. I don't know how we get there. But he won't get a second term. So no need to worry about Ivanka following him.

Incumbent Presidents who run and fail to be elected for a second term often had a tough time getting their party's nomination.

Ford faced a long fight with Ronald Reagan for the Republican nomination in 1976 and then lost the general election.
Carter faced a long fight with Ted Kennedy for the Democratic nomination in 1980 and then lost the general election.
Taft faced a long fight with Teddy Roosevelt for the Republican nomination in 1912 and then lost the general election.

Herbert Hoover was an exception as he faced no competition for the 1932 Republican nomination but still lost the election. BUT GREAT DEPRESSION!
HW Bush was an exception as he faced no competition for the 1992 Republican nomination but still lost the election. BUT RECESSION and Perot took 20 million votes.

I don't see any similar scenario being played out in 2020. Despite some grumbling by Kasich, I don't see a serious Republican challenge. I also don't see a depression hitting in the next two years. The third party candidate given our newly emboldened billionaires might happen, particularly with Bloomberg. Bloomberg may figure he is simply too old to wait until 2024.

At the moment any third party looks like it will come out of the left. The Democrat Party though always a coalition party is currently vry split. The crazies are really dragging everything left. Open calls for socialism. Combine that with Trump pulling working class votes and we may see a once every few generations realignment.
The President is a fink.

Here we go again, people mistaking
what they want to happen with what
will really happen. What you mean is,
you hope he won't be, you can't
possibly know what's going to happen.

Didn’t you just do that the other day claiming he’d win re-election because his idiotic base still loves him?

Now I get why you’re so desperate for Hillary to be the nominee again.

The sheer entertainment value, she can't
talk without going into a coughing fit.
Or the arm waver, Beto. He's a peach,
Trump would tear him a new a-hole..

Kamala Harris has reportedly decided to run. Will announce her candidacy sometime around the MLK weekend timeframe.

I'd take her over Warren any day.

That's like saying you'd take Groucho over
Harpo, or Moe over Curly. All bumbling
morons..
