This is Calif. Suspended license from
5 years ago, no plates, no insurance
and arguing with the cop about
not impounding the car. It's
a dang 3rd world country, there
are so many drivers like this there.

I thought it was going to end where he let her drive off. I'm not sure how it is now, but in the 80's I had friends driving around with several arrest warrants and when they would get pulled over, which happened often, the cop would say something like, "I really should take you to jail but I'll give you a chance to clear up your warrants." The fact of the matter was the jails were so overcrowded that they didn't want to clutter them up with people with only minor moving violations.

If you watch these videos, it's still
that way. The cop will see you have
unpaid tickets and give you yet
another ticket and impound your
car. It's all about money, they
know eventually you'll pay all
the fines and taking you to
jail costs them money.

The fines in Calif are huge, $700
for a parking infraction isn't
unusual. If you park in a
handicap spot with a placard
that isn't yours. it's a $1700
fine.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I recently got a ticket for parking in the wrong direction in a diagonal parking space in California. Have you ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for that before? As I recall, it was rather steep too, like $50. I wrote an obscene message in the memo field of my check.

I was watching these videos a couple years back. Maybe 3, so many projects I worked on. Mentioned all the costs. Some girl on the team mentioned that CA is a traffic-ticket industrial complex. Friend or maybe her was there a week and got pinched. Said they knew people there and they just accept it.

There are so many things you
can get tickets for in these
videos, it's nuts. And they're
all expensive. They do stings
all the time and ticket 25 people
an hour, bringing in thousands
in fines for the city.

Like bikes running stop signs,
or cars driving for a few feet
in a bike lane. There are so
many painted lines in the
streets and they all involve
fines, how do people possibly
not violate some of them.

That's true. I have plenty of them. Where I'm from, Seal Beach, they have people that do nothing but ride around in their little golf cart and put chalk marks on tires and issue tickets. There is a time limit for free beach parking and people exceed it all the time.

What gets me is I was allowed to park where I was, I was just facing the wrong direction. Jeez! (sorry Padre).

In San Fran it's not even ticket free
to walk, they have all kinds of rules
for that too. And tickets and fines
for pedestrians. Yet the homeless
can sleep on the sidewalk and take
a crap wherever they want and nothing
happens to them.

It's revenue crime. I read a blip about that time that said, 85% of leo dollars were spent on traffic control.

Cops are out collecting fines to pay for their legal system.

SF is the craziest place I have ever visited. Stanley's videos just add to its reputation. One thing I do not get is the earbuds. Who ever would think to drive a car with earbuds in? Almost every car has a flipping radio, yet these people wear them while driving. Worse it people biking with them. In a car at least you have the car to protect you in a crash. On a bike, wearing them is just crazy.

It is not just SF. Some dopey girl was walking her kids on my street wearing them. I am crawling at 5 mph, she is on the wrong side. I give the lightest horn tap I can. She does not even notice. I do it three more times, one of her kids finally yells "MOM!" and she looks back. I mean, she was in her total own world. Do people not even know to walk facing traffic anymore?

The whole point of earbuds is partial
sensory deprivation. They dull your
other senses and highlight just
your hearing. For the earbuds.

They cause an altered state of
consciousness in some people,
the same as talking on a phone
while driving does. Very dangerous.
How many people have walked
into open manholes while on the
phone, or into traffic.
