I really like most of those actresses, so I enjoyed the movie. If you don’t like them (or hate most women in general *coughcough*), you won’t like it. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Ghostbusters (2016) had a Production Budget: $144 million and Ocean's 8 is doing similar business. But Oceans 8 was made for only $70 million. But the vastly different production costs differentiate a reasonable hit from a disaster. In the business climate today you don't need a blockbuster to justify a sequel. If it just makes a profit, you hope that enough people will buy the DVDs and stream the movie that the sequel will also make money. It made more money opening weekend than the other Oceans movies, yet sold less tickets (as Pacomartin showed above). That's inflation for ya. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

A movie with 10 well known actresses, a famous story, and a $70 million production budget earning $41.5 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend is a profitable movie that will get a sequel, but "crushing it" is a bit of a stretch. A nearly silent horror movie with a husband and wife team (A Quiet Place) and a $17 million production budget earning $50.2 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend is "crushing it". |

A huge stretch. It won't have legs. Too many reviews like this one: "What’s supposed to be slick and cool ends up overly reserved and boring, and that goes for the entire film. Gender-swapped reboots can and should work, but not when they’re as underwritten and slapdash as the disappointing Ocean’s 8. 2 stars.” http://www.postbulletin.com/entertainment/limp-script-leaves-ocean-s-dead-in-the-water/article_d43a0f81-71ec-5ec3-b5dd-782b47ba9bfa.html If you take a risk, you may lose. Never seen a chick flick I liked. Women doing things they would never do in real life is boring. What's the average age of the women in O 8, it has to be around 46 or so. Oh boy.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
