Is Christianity too feminized?

It can be a way to gain and spread incorrect and unflattering information about someone in order to assert yourself or diminish another. It is one of the reasons why I'm surprised Evenbob twists this prohibition in a way to make the Church look controlling, when it is the exact opposite. Good Scripture quotes. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Really? 'All'? Did you READ the Atlantic Monthly article I posted about how good gossip is? Of course you didn't, it goes against what you horrific Church defines gossip as. If you really pray, you should be praying to be released from the mindset you've been brainwashed into. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Nope. "Gossip - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gossip " Gossip is idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others; the act is ...." 90% of gossip is not malicious or full of lies and hate, as you and FrG keep implying. It's just the exchange of ideas and information, it's how we keep up with things going on around us. The people who try and control gossip are those who have a lot to lose, like the Church. They are always in danger of people finding out what total frauds they are, so they try and squash idle talk. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

So you want to kill all the good and productive gossip just to stop what you don't like about it. I thank your non existent god you are no longer in charge of anything and your tiny pipsqueak ideas have no way of being implemented anymore. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

When I was in the bar biz, I heard productive gossip all the time. Most of my regular customers kept tabs they would pay at the end of the month. I would hear thru gossip that so and so lost his job and I would start watching him. Sure enough, drinking more and more and putting it all on his tab. Time for me to step in and get some of that paid right now or I would never see any of it. Gossip is how I kept up with what my customers were doing in other bars, especially the trouble makers. Kept me abreast of how other bar owners were doing, were they getting better deals on booze than I was. Kept me up on who was dating who and cheating on theirs spouses. All this was needed to keep an even balance going for me. There is gossip in every business, it's the lifeblood of staying on top of things. Without it we would be lost. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

For God's sake Bob you sound like a crazy person. Using your definition of gossip I can understand what you are saying but you refuse to recognize what I am calling gossip, which I think you would call slander. This really is a silly argument. I discovered a little bit a go and am content that our disagreement here is just semantics. We both have a different definition of gossip. What you call gossip I call news or information. What I call gossip you call slander. What you continue to say about my Church and me is for example slander. You being a prejudiced bore is an example of information or what you would call gossip. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Mathematically, we would say you two are orthogonal, or perpetually at right angles to each other. |

That's because you take an innocent word and try and twist it's meaning so you can lump any idle talk at all under that heading and then condemn it. A small amount of gossip is bad, so that means all gossip is bad. Farthest thing from the truth as you can get. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | For the last time sharing news about what is going on is not what I or many people consider gossip and therefore is not condemned. In your mind you think a small amount of gossip is slander and bad, correct? And you consider gossip a more general term to mean shared news or information informally obtained, correct? See, it is just a difference of what we mean when we say gossip. I don't know what the word is in Spanish, but just pretend when I say the word gossip you hear the word slander and all our problems will be solved. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |
