It occurred to me as Easter approached that I
have no idea what the message of Jesus was.
What was his purpose, what was his core
message for mankind. You always hear it's
'love', but that's silly. The Romans and the
Jews didn't crucify him because he went
around preaching we should all love one
another.

So I Googled it and was shocked to learn
that nobody really knows what Jesus
message was! I read article after article
that went on and on and said nothing
of substance. His message was the
'kingdom of god', whatever that means.
One Catholic article written by a priest,
who said: "The message of Jesus is so
clear and precise that his words are
irresistible to all those who listen."
Yet not once in the article did he
mention what the message was!

There was a lonnnng article that made
point after point that we can't know
the core message that Jesus had for
us because it's 'hidden' and will be
revealed on his return. Sure it will,
whatever.

This is a revelation for me. All these
faithful Christians celebrating Easter
and none of them can tell you what
the message of Jesus was beyond
the solipsistic sugary sweet 'Love
one another' that they were taught
in Sunday School.

Do it, search for Jesus core message,
I dare you. There isn't one. Or if you
think you know, there are millions
who will disagree. Because there is
no clear message, how could there
be.

Athens and Troy didn't go at for ten years over some abducted wife either.
The US Civil War was not fought over the human rights of what, even in the North, were considered to be uncivilized beasts of burden.
1812 was a war with land-based goals that is now celebrated as a war with maritime goals because the land-based defeats are embarassing.
WW One was not fought to end all wars.
Japan was not forced to attack Pearl Harbor for 'freedom'.
POTUS, Israel and Saudi Arabia did not destroy the world trade center for political reasons.

Its either a threat to the established economic or political order. It ain't never about religious doctrine.

So after endlessly pontificating you now admit you don't know anything about the subject you've been spewing about. Sounds about right.

I'm confused, then, as to what your parishioners confess to every week.

Nobody can agree on what the message of
Jesus is, look it up yourself. That's why there
are thousands of branches of the religion, the
message of Jesus is a mystery. I notice you
didn't tell us what his message is in your post.
Go ahead, give it a try, I dare you.

Wouldn't matter it would simply be labeled "fake news".

I'm talking about the core message of Jesus,
which you just purposely avoided. Tell us
what the message of Jesus was when he
preached, what was at it's core, why did he
he say he was here. What was his job while
he traveled around, what was the main
message he was giving the people he
talked to.

I'm still investigating this and I can find the
message of Paul and Matthew and Luke,
but no message of Jesus. In the 3 years of
his ministry, what was his agenda, what was
his purpose, what was he telling people.
I can't find anybody willing to say what the
core message was in those 3 years.
