Tiny moth named after Trump. How will we tell them apart?

Quote:
A miniscule moth with a wingspan of just 0.4 inches is the first species to be named for the soon-to-be president of the United States, Donald Trump.
Yellow and white scales topping the moth's head resemble Trump's signature hairstyle, inspiring the name Neopalpa donaldtrumpi, wrote evolutionary biologist Vazrick Nazari, a researcher from Ottowa, Canada, in a new study.

Quote:
Twirler moths earned their common name from a habit of twirling in circles when disturbed.

Interestingly, the moth also drinks its own urine.

Here are two articles detailing what Trump said he would do, or what Pence said Trump would do, on his first day in office. To be clear, what they mean by "in office" is "as president" not the first day that he is actually physically in the oval office or some other office-like location. Personally it doesn't really bother me if the first thing he really does is take two days off.

In case anyone wanted those for handy reference.

Let me add a BBC link too, it includes a video so you can hear the words right out of his own mouth.

Interesting that one of the items is about cyber security.

Rush is always saying he lives rent
free in Obama's head. It's obvious
that Trump is living rent free in the
heads of some of the people here.

He's taking Friday off. And he's taking Saturday off.

As far as I'm concerned, he should take off the next four years.

We all know it will be someone else running things anyway.

What exactly is Golden Boy's problem with Mexico?

I understand meddling in the free market to keep US companies from setting up shop here. It's wrong, it will prove disastrous, it will add few, if any, jobs in the US, and will drive prices upwards for everyone (to be offset for the wealthy with tax cuts, of course). I understand it looks good on TV, and it creates awe in his brainless supporters and dread in his brainless opponents. Politics as usual.

But why threaten first Toyota and now BMW with tariffs if they set up shop in Mexico? Will he next threaten them if they set up shop in Japan or Germany? How about parts plants from a myriad manufacturers in Mexico, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc.? Does he think all the world's industry can move to the US, or even that it should?

Mark my words. If the orange man goes on to a full trade war, the consequences will include a host of Latin American, Asian, African and European countries cozying up to China.

He was correctly labeled a loose cannon right from the beginning. Although he has no experience damaging an entire country, give him time. (and I don't mean Mexico)

Soon we'll see people railing against NAFTA while saying they are for the North American Free Trade Agreement. You know, like they hate Obamacare but want the Affordable Care Act to continue?

Mexico, though, has a rather comprehensive set of free trade agreements besides NAFTA. There's one with the EU, and several with countries in Latin America and Asia. Many companies manufacture or assemble in Mexico using components imported from their home countries, or from third countries with free trade agreements. Much of this is for export to the US and Canada, but not all of it. There are origin rules in NAFTA. Many components come from the US for assembly here for export to Latin America, too.

The thing is open markets give you many choices. Stable, long-term, open markets give you confidence to invest in them. When you throw barriers like tariffs, choices are reduced and long-term capital investments are shot. So threatening a tariff on Toyota, for example, can cause it to write off a major investment, or to take the tariff in. Both scenarios cause prices to rise. Tariffs funnel even more money to the government. Remember when the GOP wanted to "starve the beast"?

Democrats right now could do much worse than to take up free-trade ideals on, and see how many rational Republicans they can draw to their side of the aisle.

So far you're betting 1000% in

that deter you, plenty of time
