I don't think I even started using seat belts
till 80's when the penalties came in.
I got stopped in 1990 and it was like $25.
Now it's $65 in MI.

It feels weird if I am not wearing it. But making people is just about revenue nothing else.

No, it's about insurance companies saving
money. They're the ones that thought it up.
And really, it's dumb not to use them. I think
of that every time I brake hard and my dog
flies into the dashboard. We tend to forget
the forces we're dealing with in a moving
car.

I agree, but I do think minors need protection. So I'm ok with laws requiring minors to be belted. I'm also ok with laws on 'trigger locks', because that will protect OTHERS from your malfeasance. Me not wearing a safety belt only affects me.

And whoever has to pull your mashed up body put of the car if you're in an accident. And whoever then has to provide health care. Your insurance company may be unimpressed with that choice too.

True, they are paid for that work, but there is an externality in your choice.

But yes, it's a law made to protect people from themselves, which I understand is objectionable to many. I agree it should be unnecessary legislation.

Without the law, car insurance would go
thru the roof. Try getting a bunch of
seat belt violations and see what happens
to your rates. In some states just one
ticket will raise them.

I pretty much agree that Darwin should be free to harvest people making unwise decisions as long as they don't take anyone with them who doesn't want to go.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Just don't get into an accident. Duh. Evenbob do you slam your brakes on just to see your dog bounce off the dashboard? Real funny.

A little younger that that, but I do remember when nobody wore them. Even on TV shows they never wore them.
