Madonna doing American Pie as dance tune
Macy Gray doing Steven Tyler's Walk this Way as a R&B song
Jessica Simpson for country music version for These Boots are Made for Walking for the Dukes of Hazard movie
Scissor Sisters doing disco version Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)

etc.
Disneyfied versions are high on the list

"Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds" is on the list twice.
Miley Cyrus makes the list. I do like her cover of Jolene (which is not on the list).

Sometimes covers work, sometimes they don't when crossing genre boundaries.
Jerry Garcia's Bluegrass band "Old and in the Way" decided to cover The Rolling Stones Wild Horses. Sounded great, love the bluegrass version
Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World"

William Shatner beats a famous Beatle song with a lead pipe. It's almost impossible to listen to the entire song

Miley Cyrus - The Backyard Sessions - "Jolene"
Since Miley made the 10 worst cover list for her Lucy version, I thought I would include a nice cover of her godmother, Dolly Parton's, song (stays within country genre)

"What Have They Done to My Song, Ma", by Melanie, is possibly the most ironic song to have a bad cover.

Don't like the original.

Don't forget that Leonard Nimoy also did his best Tina Turner on a cover of "Proud Mary"

I was just reminded of two songs in the 70s. (speaking of sad songs and covers)

Every actor who wasn't tone deaf was singing "Send in the Clowns". It is suppose to be a sad song, but eventually it just made me feel like throwing a brick at my TV screen.

"The Impossible Dream" was another song many singers were covering. I didn't hate it as much but also grew sick of it.

I was at a music festival
Between bands the soundboard guy plays CD's over the sound system
I was hearing Led Zeppelin songs played by bluegrass musicians
Sounded great, spoke to the soundboard guy
He showed me the CD he was playing
Picking Led
Went online and bought it. Love it

Leonard Cohen when he hears his 30 year old song Hallelujah in every movie and television show and every award show he can't help remember how difficult it was to get the album produced.

They interviewed Bruno Ganz about the Hitler memes. He said that he put so much of his soul into that performance that it is difficult to watch it used so lightly. But he said even his wife teases him sometimes, so he has grown to accept it.

In which category? Personal preference, sad songs, bad cover, or overused?

This company does polls to come up with these lists. They are good click-bait.
