I totally missed it on purpose, but the
opening ceremonies have been dubbed
the most boring ever.

More commercial breaks than show, to relieve
the tedium.

Great start to the Olympics. Looking forward to the next two weeks

The ceremonies for the 2016 Summer Olympics had a significantly lower budget than those of other recent Olympics, only 10% of the total budget for the ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Hungary is not that small, but having the games would be an all-time thing to remember.

You may be correct, but other than Greece which was an emotional pick, no small country has had the Summer Olympics since 1952. I just don't see how they can afford to do it. Populations are present day.

1896 Greece :10.9 million
1912 Sweden :9.8 million
1920 Belgium :11.4 million
1928 Netherlands :16.9 million
1952 Finland :5.4 million
2004 Greece :10.9 million

Hungary 9.8 million

SUMMER OLYMPICS
Australia XVI 1956  Melbourne :24.3 million
Australia XXVII 2000  Sydney :24.3 million
Belgium VII 1920  Antwerp
Brazil XXXI 2016  Rio de Janeiro
Canada XXI 1976  Montreal :36.3 million
China XXIX 2008  Beijing
Finland XV 1952  Helsinki
France II 1900  Paris
France VIII 1924  Paris
Germany XI 1936  Berlin
Germany XX 1972  Munich
Greece I 1896  Athens
Greece XXVIII 2004  Athens
Italy XVII 1960  Rome
Japan XVIII 1964  Tokyo
Japan XXXII 2020  Tokyo
Mexico XIX 1968  Mexico City
Netherlands IX 1928  Amsterdam
South Korea XXIV 1988  Seoul
Soviet Union XXII 1980  Moscow

I love the Olympics, but I find the Opening Ceremonies to be extremely boring EVERY time. I can't watch for more than a few minutes without turning the channel.

I just watched the women's air rifle competition. Although it is a terrible spectator sport, these small events are why I like the olympics.

What I was saying above. The more obscure the better. Sure, shooting BB guns. But they can probably put two BBs thru the same hole. They will make zero in endorsements. At best get hired as a coach somewhere. But it is somehow neat.

Though I still have not tuned in. NBC proper never going to put that on.

On Directv channel 205 is showing all of the televised events. It is nice to see them all at once and choose whoch one to watch. I am currently watching women's team handball.

Holy crap.

One of the male gymnasts from France just crashed his vault and shattered his leg.

Whenever I see an athlete snap a bone like that, it just creeps me the hell out.

So boring the ratings in London are down
28% from 2012. Crappiest opening ever,
apparently.
