The real question
Which Dem will be President 2024?

It depends.

If Clinton manages only one term, then I don't know. If she manages two, the president following her has a 99.999999% chance of being Republican.

Sorry.

Yeah.
I disagree with Nareed's assumption that if Hillary gets two terms, the Republicans will have a 99.999999% chance in 2024.

I think they will have a better chance in 2020 than 2024.

The electoral map favors Dems. Demographic trends favor Dems. The fact that the Republican party was dumb enough to actually nominate a person like Donald Trump favors Dems.

Would you believe 99.996%? :)

It depends a lot on how the economy is doing by then, and how badly Clinton gets pummeled by scandals in Congress in the meantime. The first order of business in the next Congress, if it remains in GOP hands, will be to form committees to investigate Benghazi, the email server, Bill Clinton, etc.

The GOP can't stay stupid forever. Did you notice two Hispanics were near the lead during the primaries? They'd have had a better chance of wooing Latinos to their side. This can still happen once the Trump nightmare ends for the Republicans. They just need to figure out once you bring in a minority to your side, you can't then kick them when you deign to look at them for the rest of your term.

If one pary's base grows too big it's likely to warrant either a split of the bigger party or rebase of the opposition. . There will be some factor over which there will be a split or larger debate, especially if the opposition is no longer a threat.

We need at least 2 functioning political parties for democracy to work. If the GOP continues to slide downhill, the Democrats will get even more corrupt & complacent than they already are. One role of the loyal opposition is to keep the ruling party honest. But Donald Trump's idea of keeping the Democrats honest is to demand to see the birth certificate.

Why didn't Trump organize a competent computer team to do data analytics? Why didn't Trump spend a dime on advertising the entire months of July & August? The GOP is not making the Clintons work hard for this win-- Hillary had a harder time beating Bernie Sanders than Donald Trump!

But few were as dark about the Republican Party’s future as former President [George W.] Bush himself. In a more intimate moment during the reunion, surrounded by a smaller clutch of former aides and advisers, Bush weighed in with an assessment so foreboding that some who relayed it could not discern if it was gallows humor or blunt realpolitik.
“I’m worried,” Bush told them, “that I will be the last Republican president.”

I try to refrain from threads like this. I usually voted Democrat because the sometimes did something for the average working man and his family. But the fact that Hillary has to work at all to beat Trump, what does that say about the Democratic base ? And is Hillary the best Democratic Party came come up with. HOW SAD !

And that says something very bad about the Republican candidates in the primaries this last cycle.
