Thanks for the laugh.

Using AZDuffman's skewed meter, I think I am a fiscal conservative.

I am just left of AZ.

The good thing about our system is that the one who won only has a year or so to make some of the promises made come true or to somehow otherwise make people happier or that person stands to lose ground in the mid-terms and, if the trend to not get things done continues, could well lose everything in the 2020 election.

Don't tell me you really think that Trump and/or Republicans will be taken to task when the redneck paradise with 100% employment and new pickup trucks and free beer for everyone does not come to pass by this time next year? They'll just blame Democrats, or Obama, or Clinton, or China, or something--and the faithful will believe them. Anyone but themselves. With great power comes great evasion of responsibility.

I actually expect the Republican stranglehold on power to persist for decades, simply because so much of their efforts have been focused on twisting the rules so that they can't be budged. For instance, how could they ever lose control of the House when they've been so successful at cramming all the Democrats in a city into a single bizarrely shaped district, while the rest of the city is five Republican districts? And how could they ever lose the Presidency when they've managed to disenfranchise half a million Democratic voters and are making noise about doing that to two million more?

I agree that the EC "is the way it is," but I don't think it's fair. NATURALLY, those that benefit from it want to keep it. But you know what would really raise my esteem for the Republicans several notches? If ONE prominent Republican admitted that the EC is antiquated, SUBVERTS democracy, and should be abolished. That would be a level of intellectual honesty and integrity that I would never expect from a Republican (or a Trumper on this board). But it would be nice.

Google it, easy to find.

Yep, didn't think you had any sources other than your nether regions. Be sure to wipe.

Maybe if Mexico's government wasn't so crooked, people might be able to escape poverty by a means other than dealing drugs ?

What a bizarre and distorted viewpoint. Actually, Mexico has a large and thriving middle class. Drug dealers are a tiny percentage of the population. Yes, there's a drug problem, but Mexicans aren't all poor or drug dealers any more than they are all thieves or rapists.

I think you'd be outraged if somebody said that everybody in the US was either poor or a gang member.

There's nothing better to replace it, they
tried and failed 700 times. There is no
incentive to replace it. When Obama
won in 2008, where was the Dem's
congresses incentive, they just won
with the EC. Why would any winning
administration ever want to change
something that just worked for them.

I'm not aware of any such initiative (from "they"?), nor of it being tried 700 times. Source?

Oh right, sorry, I forgot, Bob doesn't DO sources.

And nothing is needed to replace it. Just count the popular votes. Simple.

Is this what we want? The blue
areas on this map electing
every president? The red is
is the counties where Trump
won.

Geographical maps don't represent population. That's a terrible arguement for the EC. It's not about how much land mass you control. Plus it's a non sequitir to say only the blue areas would decide. That 48% of people in the red areas (give or take) also have just as much say. I guess... do we want only the people in the red areas to decide who becomes president? I assume not.

Not really, it's where the majority
of illegal voters live, the ones that
gave Hillary the majority this time.
Why do you think the Left loves
open borders so much.
