I think I will pray that we all trust and accept God's Will and have a great year!

Too bad no two people can agree
as to what that actually is. Why
do you think that is, exactly. That
it's impossible to tell the difference
between your own will and the will
of some invisible silent god.

Bob, have you ever experienced moments where you really wanted to do something but at the same time you also somehow felt or knew that you shouldn't do it?

Padre - what are your thoughts on Islam? Is it truly a "religion of peace"?

Not that I can recall. If I did it
would be the boundaries of
the law stopping me and not
some invisible god. Like should
I try and make it thru this yellow
light before it turns red. The law
says I could get a ticket, not some
god.

The 'will of god' issue has caused
more trouble than can be imagined.
How many terrorists use that as an
excuse to do whatever they want. How
many priests tortured Jews in the
Inquisitions using the 'will of god'
as their reason. It's a frightening
concept because it can be whatever
you dream up.

How about if you have ever felt you should do something right and good but at the same time felt some resistance to doing it?

By the way the examples you gave are clearly nit the will of God. Any thinking person not motivated by hate, fear, power, or greed would know that God does not desire that.

I highly recommend this book for a discussion about how humans know "right from wrong":

How the heck would you know??? That's
the PROBLEM, nobody can tell the
will of some invisible god and their
own will, so they just pick and
choose which is which as it
suits them. The whole thing is
patently ridiculous. It's obviously
ALL your will, a god has nothing
to do with any of it.

People love to play that game. Oh,
it's out of my hands, it's the will
of god! Gets them out of taking
any responsibility. How convenient..

You are hitting on why we need God-s Revelation. Why He inspired Sacred Writings and established a Church to teach and help us. I agree that Christians or anyone who just makes up their own reality or interprets things the way they want will always make mistakes and find themseleves doing awful mistakes. We need God's Revelation and the Church or we are lost.

Have you ever experienced a situation where you wanted to do something lawful and good, but at the same time felt some resistance to doing it?
