I don't know why FrG agreed to read this
book. In the first two pages the author
robustly attacks any claim that human
rights come from some god. I imagine
he spends the rest of the book showing
how they are 100% a human invention
and evolved into what we have today.
He says the claim that human rights
were written by a divine hand is a
complete myth.

Did he get his copy yet?

Is your church against Biden/Harris? They
should be. I'm an atheist and even I'm
against abortion.

The Church is against Abortion for sure. Not against any one person or political party. However if you are pro-life it is hard to imagine voting for Biden/Harris. Of course that is NOT to say it is easy to vote for Trump.

You didn't answer the question.
Biden/Harris are 100% rabidly
pro abortion. How could your
Church possibly support people
like this. Is your Church anti Biden/
Harris or not. If not, that falls under
this category:

hy·poc·ri·sy

the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.

You cannot be against something
and then support people who
advocate it. That is the very essence
of hypocrisy.

“Two Catholics who have never met can nevertheless go together on crusade or pool funds to build a hospital because they both believe that God was incarnated in human flesh and allowed Himself to be crucified to redeem our sins. States are rooted in common national myths. Two Serbs who have never met might risk their lives to save one another because both believe in the existence of the Serbian nation, the Serbian homeland and the Serbian flag. Judicial systems are rooted in common legal myths. Two lawyers who have never met can nevertheless combine efforts to defend a complete stranger because they both believe in the existence of laws, justice, human rights – and the money paid out in fees. Yet none of these things exists outside the stories that people invent and tell one another. There are no gods in the universe, no nations, no money, no human rights, no laws, and no justice outside the common imagination of human beings.”

There is a God, there are nations, money, human rights, laws, and justice. You have to have a pretty big imagination to think these thinks don't exist. I find it amazing that educated people can say things like you quote and then maybe because it sounds good or because its contrarian or for some other reason we take nonsense and quote it as being profound or true.

They're human constructs. We imagined
them into existence. We keep them alive
by continuing to imagine them.

I think you are imagining that they are only human constructs.
