If this trikes you as flippant, then let me make another example: ideologies can have a great deal of influence on culture, politics, societies, etc. We study ideologies in philosophy, history and politics, not in a separate discipline.

You study philosophical ideologies in philosophy and political theory in politics, etc. The important thing to recognize is that your theory or understanding of God transcends all these fields and often influences your philosophy of life and politics. I know you like to pretend that God is not real, but how one views God or if one does not believe in God, makes a huge difference in everything that person thinks.

So you merely pretend unicorns are not real?

So you would believe in and love God only if it was shown that he would answer prayers on your whim and become your personal genie?

I don't know what you mean, I never
pray. I would like evidence that praying
for sick people makes them well, as
Jesus promised. So far it's no better than
random in studies. It seems to have no
effect at all. It's like you buy a car that
the salesman says will last 400K miles,
never break down, and get 50 MPG.
When it does none of those things,
you just shrug your shoulders and
remain hopeful.

Jesus the salesman made lots of promises
and seems to have kept none of them.
Shall I post the list again? The only conclusion
to draw is the obvious one.

As opposed to those who pretend he is real?
Only one side is pretending, your side. I'm
waiting for actual evidence, then I'll think about
considering if god is real or not. It does make
a huge difference in how we think. Atheists
are free of the burden of worrying all day if
their actions and thoughts are offending god
or not. It never crosses my mind.

It would be nice if he would show up and let us know who's religion is right.

The benefits to all of humanity knowing that would be huge.

According to the faithful of every faith, he's already done that.

He told Abraham and Moses, according to Judaism. He sent Jesus/himself down according to Christianity. He told Muhammad according to Islam. He told Joseph Smith according to Mormonism. I'm sure every cult leader since also got the word as well.

Yup. Every religion says god is tired of
telling us, tired of us of little faith. Tired
of the non believers.

Whatever..

Do you really think that this is the experience of billions of Christians? As you like to say, "if what you say is true there would be no Christians." The only conclusion I can draw is your conception of prayer is so shallow that you cannot understand.

The only side that has no evidence whatsoever is atheism. I have given you a list of evidence that you have not refuted so you can go back and look that up again.

A fact played out throughout the bloodiest century in human history at the hands of atheists.

You want to know what I really think? I
think most Christians are living vicariously
off the experiences of other Christians.
Who are themselves living vicariously
off the non existent experiences of still
other Christians. It's a vicious circle with
darn few real 'experiences' to feed on.
